Choosing the Right Law School / NYU vs. UCLA
« on: April 18, 2008, 09:29:47 PM »
No money at either...although i'm trying to negotiate some at UCLA. California resident so I would get in-state tuition at UCLA. I want to do public interest corporate law placement isn't an issue. UCLA has always been a dream school and at their ASD i felt VERY comfortable there.  I'm from So Cal, and this is where i plan to practice.

I've heard NYU has a good LRAP, but it would be so EXPENSIVE to go there that it kind of scares me.  I would be drowning in debt.

I can see how it could be offensive, especially if it's done in a stereotypical manner.  It's not like a man acting like a woman or even a black person acting as a white person because of the history of the U.S. and the movie/entertainment industry.  Minstrel shows (white men portraying black men) were a significant form of entertainment early in the entertainment industry.  They were extremely stereotypical and offensive, with exaggerated make-up and exaggerated mannerisms.  Watch "Birth of a Nation" to see what it was all about.  You can also google "minstrel show" or "blackface".

Having said that i dont know much about this movie.  I'm only saying that it could potentially be offensive.

I'm a little lost with this financial aid stuff and I actually just asked for my pin.  Anyways, what is the significance of getting your stuff in by the PRIORITY deadline?

So what am I looking at with a 3.25 and a 166?...URM

Law School Admissions / Where can I get in?

I've applied, but I'm thinking that maybe I should apply to a couple more safeties before the deadlines pass.  What range am I looking at with a 3.29 GPA and an average LSAT of 163 (took it twice..first time 159, second time 166).  BTW i'm an URM.
