Job Search / Re: Prestigious Government Internship Suggestions? Insight?
« on: September 12, 2009, 11:54:09 AM »
I want to do securities work and I have a lot of experience in the field.  I know the SDNY has a securities fraud group, and that their criminal division in general hires summer interns (  I have already applied to this but I am not sure what else is really out there which may be a better opportunity.  I was thinking perhaps Attorney General for NY (Cuomo is all over securities fraud cases lately) but not sure what else.

Of course there is always the SEC/CFTC, but I am more interested in criminal work.

Job Search / Prestigious Government Internship Suggestions? Insight?
« on: September 11, 2009, 08:53:37 PM »

Anyone have any insight into what some of the more prestigious Gov internships are?  I am interested in white collar crime and trying to target potential agencies for a summer position.  I know the USAO SDNY is rather coveted, but not sure what else there is or what the hieracrhy is (in NY region).  Sorry so broad, but just starting out.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Wait List at Fordham
« on: April 18, 2008, 07:07:13 PM »
Wait-listed Fordham PT via status checker.  Anyone have any advice?  Is the Fordham WL hopeful?

I am having a hard time deciding on where to go to school.  I got a $22.5k/year scholarship to Seton Hall PT, $6k/year scholarship to Rutgers Newark PT and just plain old admission to Brooklyn Law PT (also got waitlisted to Fordham PT).  I work in securities regulation so I am not really looking to go big law after graduation, probably just pursue a counsel position with an asset manager.  I cant really justify full price for Brooklyn even though they probably would have been my top choice all else being equal.  If i am going for corporate/securities law does anyone have insight on these schools?  Also, if anyone can shed some light on my chances as a Fordham waitlist'er that would be helpful too.  Numbers are 162/3.55.  Thanks

So you think I should just keep following up?  I really need an answer on seat deposit issue before I leave on vacation because I will be returning post the deadline.

The admissions office has been surprisingly unresponsive to my inquiries.  Over the last two weeks I sent two emails regarding scholarship info, and one e-mail and a voice-mail regarding extending the deadline for my seat deposit - none of which received a reply.  I am traveling out of the country in a few days and I really wanted to get some clarification before I leave, but I am afraid any further follow-up will be perceived as hounding.  Either way, the communication flow thus far has been disconcerting.

Choosing the Right Law School / Brooklyn Scholarship??
« on: March 31, 2008, 05:22:55 PM »
I got an e-mail from Brooklyn last week notifying me of acceptance and received the official letter today.  Neither record said anything about a scholarship but as I understand it Brooklyn is a little weird with scholarships and typically sends notification after acceptance notices.  Can someone shed some light on this?  When and how would I know if I were eligible for a merit scholarship?  Thanks!

Choosing the Right Law School / Are scholarships negotiable?
« on: March 24, 2008, 11:44:57 AM »
Random question but I was wondering if you were offered scholarship(s) can you negotiate with the admissions office and/or leverage another schools offer?  I dont know how this process works from behind the scene.  If anyone has any tidbits relating to experiences with NY/NJ schools it would be helpful.  Thanks

Studying for the LSAT / hand scoring?

Has anyone here ever had their score changed due to hand scoring - e.g. did erasures create errors on your scantron?
