General Board / Re: 60 mile commute to LS. Am I nuts?
« on: April 23, 2008, 10:33:01 AM »
Is there any kind of public transportation that would make it so that you could get work done on your commute?  I plan on commuting an hour on the train, but there is a big difference between time that can be used to read or study and completely wasted time driving.

Yes those are the obvious choices in that grouping.  However, you have to remember that a lot of students don't both and just pick whatever name they are familiar with.  Looking at your options will save you thousands, and the ones that you have listed are just the beginning.  If you go to FinAid.org there is a huge list of lenders that offer benefits to reduce the %s.  Things have gotten worse in terms of reductions this year but there are still a few that offer better deals that you should look into.  I'm currently doing that now...

Good luck!

Would you mind posting which lenders you found to have good deals?  TIA.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / anyone used an Asus eeePC?
« on: April 19, 2008, 05:01:39 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone has tried out the new Asus eeePC (the super tiny one).  I know it couldn't be a primary computer, but it's awfully attractive to me as a secondary computer for day to day notetaking and stuff. It is so small and lightweight and the price can't be beat.  All the reviews I've read are really positive.  I'm trying to find a place where I could check on out in person.  They sell them at Best Buy, but so far none of the Best Buys near me have any in stock. Anybody else considering one of these?

I got married last summer and I had a tough time with this decision.  I ended up changing my name.  I want to have the same last name as my future children, and I'd like to be the "xxx family".  But I had a hard time giving up my own name for his.
