Transferring / Transfer from T-9 to T-6
« on: November 09, 2008, 05:30:24 PM »
Hi all, For mostly personal reasons I am seriously considering transfering from a T-9 school to another T-9 school. Im working hard and doing what I need but am not sure what the likelihood of being able to transfer is. Most websites like Columbia and Boalt say that one should be in the top 5% of their class...but is this on the basis that most transfer applicants are from T2 and T3 schools? Does anyone know what the chances are from one top 10 to another...such as from UVA to Boalt? Thanks!

Possibly the OP should reconsider law school. spending 3 years and tens of thousands of dollars prolly is not the best use of time or money at a T3/4 school. Most people from those schools get temp jobs or hourly legal jobs comparable to paralegals from community colleges. Not trying to be hurtful...just honest.

You're right...incoming class size but they take a lot of transfers to make $ (Penn's #1 goal) because transfers also do not count against US news rankings....My bad

Well now we know who had to settle for the bottom of the T14 and how badly they want to make a claim that they had a choice

Something else to consider...Penn average class size over past ten years=180, Michigan average class size=370...What does that mean? Over the last ten years about 2000 more Michigan Law ALum have been hired throughout the country...people that will ultimately help you get a job anywhere. Michigan would surpass Penn in a heartbeat but it realizes how unimportant a few spots on the US news rankings are...Penn only makes decisions based on US news...imagine what Michigan's numbers would be if they too had only a class of 180...

BC would be much better for work in Boston...Law school is about the connections you make during Law School

If you want the best chance of getting the best jobs anywhere in the country/world then go to Michigan hands down!!! If you want to live in Chicago while you go to law school then go to Northwestern. For the same cost, this is actually a real easy decision.

TEXAS!!! COrnell is ughhhh...Texas is very laid back and would be SOOOOOO much better for those 3 years. Cornell hopes and pleads to stay in the top 14 every year while Texas cares about educating its students.

Its up to you...lots of similarities...best alumni network by far is ND...I'd scratch BC pretty easily...BU is in a much better part of Boston and has better opportunities...WUSTL is up an coming but might care a little to much about US news rankings...What do you want?
