Thank you so much for your advice - I really do appreciate it!   I was leaning toward BU for many of the reasons you mentioned.  New England has always been my home, and my family lives in the area.  Cost is also a consideration, and what seems like only a small difference in tuition and COL adds up over three years.

BigLaw is what I have always wanted to do, but I think if I plan to stick in New England and do a bit of extra leg work I could make that happen at BU too.  Is that an unrealistic expectation?

Does anyone else have input?  I'd appreciate all the advice I can get!

Where should I go next fall? / Georgetown Sticker(?) v. BU with 15k
« on: July 15, 2013, 03:00:11 PM »
In desperate need of help before my deposit deadline this Friday!

I decided on BU, signed a lease on an apartment and convinced them to give me some $ despite a horrible LSAT score.  THEN I got into Georgetown from the priority wait-list.  From the correspondence I've had, it sounds like Georgetown isn't going to give me much, if any, money.. and tuition is already higher than BU.  My gut is telling me to stick with BU, but I know Georgetown is a much better school.  I have gotten excited about BU, but I don't want to pass up a life-changing educational opportunity at GULC just because the timing and finances aren't perfect.

Any thoughts?  Would Georgetown give me a huge advantage in New England in terms of finding a job/salary? Worth the difference in $$? If it helps, I want to work in New England, probably in big law.

Wait List / Re: Wait list Advice
« on: June 10, 2013, 06:55:54 PM »
I got into 4/8 of the schools I was wait-listed at.  I sent an email about every two weeks, basically just reminding them that they were still a top choice for me and I would be eager to accept an offer of admission.  Make sure you read all the wait-list update emails you get, and reply if they ask for a confirmation of interest.  Good luck!

Where should I go next fall? / BU v. GW v. Fordham
« on: June 10, 2013, 06:48:35 PM »
I just got three waitlist offers and am having a hard time making a choice in a short amount of time. I'm between BU v. GW v. Fordham.  I want to do the biglaw thing on the East Coast.  Maybe become involved in politics much later in life.  Career prospects and starting salary are my main priorities.

My gut tells me all 3 schools are fairly comparable, and I should go with the one I like the best.  Do most people agree?   If that is the case,  BU is an easy choice. It's closest to my family, my favorite location, and was the only school to give me $.

If GW or Fordham will give me a significant advantage over BU I would reconsider, but from what I've heard I think I will have a similar experience at any of them.  I know GW is ranked slightly high, but rankings only tell so much.

I also got into W&M with 10k but am not considering it, as I want to be in a city.  I am waitlisted at UMich, UVA and GTown.  Obviously, if I get in to any of them, I will go.  But I am not holding my breath and need to make a choice!
