Current Law Students / Hornbooks and E&E
« on: March 08, 2008, 01:43:07 PM »

I'm a soon to be 1L and I had a few questions about these extra materials...  Are the only books that are ever assigned as required casebooks?  Also, do hornbooks and E&E's correspond to specific case books or do they just pertain to the particular area of study?

alot of what the lr bible taught didn't click.  i didn't agree with many of the approaches, such as not reading the question stem first.  also, i had a really good teacher with kaplan.  with his class, it became so clear as to why answers were wrong and why that one answer is definitely right.  it all just seemed to click so well with kaplan.  practice had alot to do with it too though.  i was doing probably about a hundred questions a week.  i finally got to the point where i felt like i was seeing the same questions over and over again.  mentally, the big key was finally being able to predict.  i was able to predict most answers in all three section types.  i very might well have done just as good using another teaching method, but i definitely don't think people should hate on kaplan because it works well for a lot of people.

just because there seems to be more guys than girls, don't go on assuming that us females are obsessed with such meaningless topics such as bow wow and hairspray.  plus, it could be that there seem to be more guys because guys have more of a tendency to make gender specific comments.

since i'm not sure what everyone thinks....  do lsd surfers generally do better or worse?

princess bride?  pirate versus giant.  then the giant gets clunked and the pirate says "i do not envy the headache you will have when you awaker, but sleep well and dream of large women" or something like that

i looked at the lr bible and i didnt find it helpful at all.  i took a kaplan course and i actually went from a 157 to a 175 on the last prep test i took before the dec lsat.  i definitely think kaplan helped alot.  i took the lsat extreme course, and its definitely worth the money cuz ur in class like 9 hours a week and the instructors are all very high scoring.  i agree with the others, when practicing on ur own, make sure u time urself and make it as real as possible.
