Where should I go next fall? / Re: 3.81, 169 - any thoughts on my list?

You're list is perfect.

How do I know? Because I have exactly the same numbers as you, and the exact same list, except scratch Harvard, and replace Colorado with Wisconsin.

What are the odds, eh?

Good to know I'm in the right range then.

I may take a look at Penn. I'm not against going there, I just hadn't done the research and was ambivalent up til now. As for Chicago, I thought about applying but I emailed them to request information about a fee waiver (not the fee waiver itself - just information!) and they basically told me to piss off. Wasn't really stoked on spending the app money after that.

Thanks to everyone for the input - I'll take a closer look at Penn and start putting together apps for my FW schools.

Thanks for all of the input. I got fee waivers from UCLA, WashU, and W&L, so I can apply there without exploding my credit card. I've also thought about Texas, but as I start to go down the list it's hard to justify schools in the high teens and 20s with CU at 36 and guaranteed money to go.

Weird safety, rest looks pretty much as expected.

I'm from Colorado and will return there someday, so I qualify for in-state tuition and could probably get a good financial aid package. Plus Boulder is an amazing place to go to school.

I think I'm set on where I want to apply, but I'm waiting for a MIA letter writer to get back to me so I thought I'd post my list and get some feedback. Does anyone have suggestions? I have a couple of years work experience and some good extracurriculars/honors from college.

Personal Statement / countless drafts later

I finally have a draft that I'm happy with - would anyone be willing to take a look at it for me? I can do the same for anyone that needs some feedback.

Law School Applications / Re: 2007-2008 Fee Waiver Roll Call

Sorry for the TTT question, by the way, but how does one go about e-mailing for fee waivers?  I'm applying to Emory and Colorado, both of which make you mail in the stupid damn certification yourself so there's no chance at a hidden waiver or anything like that.   Anyway, neither of these fine institutions are very high on my list, so I'm not too stoked about spending half of a new iPod to apply to them.

Thoughts?  Do I just find an e-mail address off their websites and say, Hi, My Name Is Ishmael, Do you have any fee waivers to spare?  Certainly it's more nuanced than this.

I sent Colorado an email and they quickly offered me a fee waiver - they just said to print and send the email with my certification. I'm an alum and a Colorado native, though, so they're probably more generous in that case.

Thanks for all the offers. I'm actually working on a second draft based on some good advice, so if it's ok I'd like to wait a little while to send it out again. In the meantime feel free to send me yours.
