Transferring / UpWard Trend?

Hey all,

I know that it's mostly just guessing, but I'd love to hear some of your opinions on how some of the top school look at dramatic upward performance jumps from fall to spring semester.  All other things being equal, would straight A's second semester help to mitigate a mediocre first?

Applied to GULC EA so far.

I'd say top 14, and def top 20.

Rank: unsure, but top 40%? (3.35 GPA)
LSAT: 173
UGPA: 3.46

Other Factors: student council, waitlisted at Harvard last go 'round...

1L job search / US Attorney's Office

Anyone else going to a US Attorney's office?  I'll be at one this summer and, while I know that it may differ dramatically by location, I am wondering if anyone has a good handle on what to expect, generally?

Hey mbw,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I've poured over transferapps already and it seems to be mostly geared towards Tier 1 or Tier 2 transfer applicants (not surprising as this is where the majority come from).  There are a few on there in analogous situtations to this, but not enough that I was comfortable making any kind of concrete assumptions.

Transferring / UMich to HYS?

Hey all!

I'll be attending Michigan this year as a 1L, and I am very excited.  However, I would like to work in the Denver area after graduation, while keeping the possibility of clerking or teaching as open options.  So, assuming decent grades during my 1L, I intend to transfer to a top-top school in order to make these goals more possible.  I realize that Michigan is a great school, but it seems that the HYS trio trump all when it comes to opening doors throughout one's career (grades, accolades, and "connections" being equal). 

I am wondering if any of you have any experience, first-hand or otherwise, with students who were able to transfer successfully from a school of about Michigan's caliber to either Harvard, Yale, or Stanford.  Do they even consider students from such schools as possible transfers? or are they looking for exclusively "le creme de la creme" from schools like NYU, Columbia, or Chicago?

Any insight is appreciated!

Wait List / Re: Columbia waitlist ??

I e-mailed the Admissions office last week to ask about waitlist pool size and approximate timelines for hearing back.  They said something like the waitlist pool size was classified (lame!), and that most of those waitlisted will hear back next week one way or another.  They did not mention if we would be notified via snail or e-mail, but I'm guessing on the latter due to the time crunch that many JD Admissions offices seem to be in during this phase of the cycle.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Transfering...

Hey all,

While I am extremely excited to be choosing between G-Town and UPenn for the upcomming cycle, my wife's family all live in California and I was wondering if anyone here knew if UPenn or G-Town are likely feeder/transfer schools for Stanford or Berkeley, or even Harvard, for that matter.
