There is a fox and obel on the corner of McClurg and Illinois, if I remember correctly.  We walked through it one day and loved it!  But, it's one of those ultra gourmet-foodie type places, so it is fairly expensive.  But, it would be a convenient place to go if you just need a few things.

I also went in June to find my apartment!  But, I opted to live in Streeterville, and wasn't sure how quickly those apartments rented.  I figure that if we decide to move out to Lakeview or something next year, we'll be in the city and it will be easier to look at apartments when the time comes.

Are you all moving alone or bringing a SO?

I'm curious if anyone without a scholarship or huge trust fund can actually afford to live in Streeterville or Gold Coast.  I know I can't.

Actually...  my husband is moving to Chicago with me, so we have two people living in a one bedroom.  If we were to be "splitting" our rent, it would probably be similar to what you are paying.

Someone on the NU message boards posted which classes were first semester....  here it is:

First semester:

Civ Pro, Torts, Contracts, Crim and CLR

Second semester:

Con Law, Property and CLR (plus two electives)

Hope this helps!  Oh, and I have done the Torts E&E and ordered the civ pro one.  The torts was actually kinda fun!

There are a lot of great places to live in Chicago!  For our first year, my husband and I have basically decided to live in a high rise close to campus.  i figure that if there were any year when it will be important for me to be close to school, the first year will definitely be it.  Plus we have a dog and that is making apartment hunting even more interesting!  But we're using student-space, craigslist and the chicago reader mainly.  Plus my own findings on various websites.

Pigtails- from my understanding, if they offer you any aid/scholarship it is guaranteed. For example, I was given 45k across three years, but I actually had to determine how i wanted it broken apart, 15 each year.  I would imagine that if they said you would have xx amount of money for 2L and 3L, it is guaranteed.

I am married and will be moving with my husband- he'll be getting an MPA at Depaul.  We're planning to live in the streeterville area for at least the first year, then we will reevaluate after that.

I buy this argument, Allison!  Obviously, someone who has scored well on the LSAT can't go take the Bar without some prep and expect to pass--- you just can't pass the bar without some training in law school.  But, the type of person who studies for the LSAT will also probably do some major prep for the Bar.  The amount of prep work you do is probably the link in the correlation.
