Law School Admissions / visiting schools
« on: September 17, 2007, 05:59:00 AM »
I have talked with various people and some are convinced that visiting a law school (talking with adcomm, asking insightful questions, etc) will help your application.  Others have argued that it really doesn't matter whether you visit a school or not.  In some in-state schools, I am on the bubble as far as competitiveness.  Will visiting help me out????

Is it terribly bad to go half a page over the limit?  I have my ps where i want it and cutting come out would not make me very happy.

The personal statement requirement for several of my schools is shorter than my actual ps.  If i shrink the font to 10 point or single space, everything works out fine and i am under the requirement for length.  However, i do not want this to prejudice my ps when it is being reviewed by a admissions individual.

what do ya think?

I need some critical assesment of my personal statement at it's final stage.  Please let me know if anyone can read it...I'll pm it and am happy to read yours in return.

I have a 3.42 undergraduate gpa...my first several semesters were not so good, 3.0, 2.5, 2.75.  the reason for this is the difficulty in managing my studies with full time employment.  please let me know if i should bother with an addendum... if you remove these problematic semesters then a cummulative gpa of 3.66 emerges.

if you think an addendum is a good idea then how does this sound for one:

"I am submitting this addendum to explain why my academic performance during my first three semesters is not representative of my true potential.  I found it very challenging to balance full-time employment with my undergraduate studies and because of this my grades suffered.  What resulted from these experiences was the ability to better manage my time and resources and focus my attention on multiple facets of life.  This resolute change is evidenced by an upward grade trend and a cumulative grade point average from my sophomore year until now of 3.66.  Please consider this when reviewing my undergraduate academic performance."

Law School Admissions / WANTED: personal statement critics who read for free
« on: September 05, 2007, 05:52:08 AM »
I am fairly new to this site although i have been reviewing, reading, and learning for quite a while as a non-member.  I am applying for the fall 2008 cycle and hope to have everything to LSAC by oct 1.  Anyway i could use some help reviewing my personal statement.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated along with how to send my ps (assuming i have some willing takers)...do i email it to people or post my email and have people send requests and reply to them with my ps attached????
