It might be fun but as far as the reason why most people are transferring (to improve pedigree), I don't think it helps much if at all?  I have seen resumes that list 'attended classes at Harvard Law,' which I assume was from visiting, but does this really weigh in their favor?

I would assume that having it there is better than not having it there at all... Soemthing is better than nothing... But..yea i was mainly saying for people trying to get in the location where they want to practice... Also they can still but... attended for example Yale law 2008 to 2009 or Yale Law visiting student...Just having it there is something...
It by no means is as good as actually getting a degree from the institution.. but at least this way you get to attend a school you wanted to especially as in my case, where the location is key...

Just FYI for those of you who like me got rejected to school when you first applied, then again if when you try to transfer... Try visiting for you last year... So far i'm 2 and O  It is pretty cool, you will get to attend the school for your last year and the credits transfer back to your home school.

good luck everyone on your transfer apps.. the whole process it a female dog..!!

yea thanks for the input guys!! I feel a little better and have a better understanding... I'm still really pissed off b/c that was my first C in law school... lowest grade ever... I still have 4 other class grades to wait for.. hopefully they will balance things out... but who the hell knows now adays... I'm still pretty pissed off at the professor for his bull *&^% class... he was horrible..  a nice guy.. but not that great of a professor... He used the same powerpoints as  like 10 years ago.
   grrrrrrrrrrrr still mad!!

What the hell!! Only around 10% of the people in my class actually took and passed the mpre. How the hell did I get a C in my law school's Professional responsibility class??!! With basically the same type of freaking questions!! B/c of the freaking curve?? Are you serious?!! rediculous.... shows how much crap law school grades are....I'm emailing the professor now... hopefully it is a mistake.. but usually isn't... still that just doesn't make sense... I knew the freaking material... crist i passed the mpre in march!! omg!! Seriously... my lowest grade in law school comes from a class where the state bar examinaners said i was within a high percentile??!! Someone explain this to me!! I'm glad that i already passed the mpre.. b/c if I didn't.. i'd be pretty scared of that exam right now... f-ing bull!!

Transferring / Re: Lateral Transfers

I would say yes they would... Unless they are withint he top 14 they are considered lateral. Since they are both within the same tier I think you got a decent shot comming out of sucha good school anyway.. Go for it.. if you are home sick! I'm trying the same thing for the exact same reason...Good luck!

Wow I feel for you, that is a bad situation... The school is brand new?? Which one?? It isn't drexel is it?? Just curious b/c i'm from philly and that school is new and i know other law schools are annoyed at it.. more competition. Anyway I say send out apps.. Do it to 4th tier schools only.. You said any other school that is accredited.. I bet Cooley may accept you or something.. hey you said any school! Try it, it is worth a shot.. Type a long addendum explaining the situation and off you go!! Good luck!! Don't give in and don't give up if you are truly miserable from that school!

Transferring / Re: How important is the 1L internship for transfers?
« on: July 18, 2007, 05:46:23 PM »
I took a post w/ the U.S. Attorneys office (even though it wasn't paid and other positions I was offerred were) because the career services office at my school told me a internship w/ the U.S. Attorney's Office looks really good on a you think this will help me out in the least bit for transfer apps?

Hey it won't hurt you, it can only help.. Probibly not that much.. But definitely looks better than sitting on your ass and doing nothing. I studied abroad... I'm waiting for the grades, hopefully it will boost my gpa and ranking so I can tell the school I have left that I went up!!. Good luck either way!

What do schools generally consider to be a lateral transfer? That is, how far should two schools be in ranking for a transfer to be seen as lateral?

usually people say same tier. For example I am trying to move within T2 schools.

Transferring / Re: Villanova or Rutgers-Camden

I have been accepted to both.  Which one should I choose and why?

p.s. I am an NJ resident

First off Congrats!! Second off I'm jealous b/c Villanova rejected me... 3rd off Go to Rutgers for the instate tuition. And better NJ ties. This shouldn't be a hard decision they are both equally ranked but not equally cost efficient.

If you're at a T2, then why transfer to another T2?  Just the only way id transfer is if it was to a T14.

Because I want to come HOME!!! Out of state tuition is killing me and I am over 700 miles from my hometown and in a town where I have no ties and therefore no strong shot or even need or desire to look for a job there..... I tried T14 Penn. they rejected me too!  For me it is Phily or bust and so far i'm busting..
