Current Law Students / Re: Oklahoma City University vs. Ave Maria

OKC is in a Capital City and has close ties to local politics. It has a strong alumni base in OKC and the COS in OK is fairly cheap compared to most cities in FL. It really depends on where you want to practice and what kind of debt you'll be looking at.

The decision should be based on where the poster wants to essentially end up practicing law. Each of these are regional and place well in there own respective city.

PP have you narrowed down your choice? Left with the same choice I chose Tex Wes

I have been accepted to both Texas Wesleyan and St. Mary's. I have also applied to SMU and STCL. Assuming I do not get into SMU I will be left with quite a choice to make. Do I choose St. Mary's with its strong alumni base? Or do I choose STCL due to its legal market and stellar litigation reputation? Or do I go with Texas Wesleyan a new school that has yet to earn any clout outside of Ft. Worth.
STCL, St. Mary’s and Tex Wes are very close in price per semester and offer similar bar passage rates.
STCL offers a better initial shot at BIGLAW and with it a better salary
TexWes is closer to home, is still growing and hopefully improving
St. Mary’s has a strong alumni base all across Texas, many of the state’s judges hail from St. Mary’s.
Decisions..Decisions

It really depends on the type of law you want to practice and where you want to practice in TX. As each school offers something unique that would benefit you. All things considered I would say Houston. I have a close friend that has since graduated, however she attended and grad. from SMU ( she had a full ride). She visted at Houston for her last year and felt that the school was much more laid back, that the education rec. was better and the prof. where more approachable. She said is she had to do it over again she would have gone to Houston.

Houston Pros: Great for IP and Healthcare Law, low cost, laid back, lots of job prospects in South Texas

SMU Pros: Great for Bus Law, you can pretty much name you job in DFW

First of all where do you want to practice? St. Mary's has a better overall rep in Texas and has been improving it's bar passage rates every year since 1995. However Texas Wesleyan is a fairly new school and is improving as well although many on this board consider it 5th Tier. The alumni base just isn't there yet for Texas Wesleyan where as St. Mary's due to it's age has a fairly strong alumni base. And money wise they are very similar. So Ft. Worth or San Antonio?
