Hey if any of you guys want to get a jump on getting study guides for cheap I have a BUNCH of gently used ones and some that haven't even been cracked open. (I panicked and bought like 3 for each class).

I'm a rising 2L at Emory so let me know if you want to buy casebooks as well.  :) Just PM me or e-mail me at for a list of what I have.

I know you guys will be taking Torts, Contracts, Civ Pro, and Legal Methods so let me know if you want any corresponding study guides! (emmanuels, examples & explanations, gilberts, etc.).

Well it looks like we can at least buy the Civil Procedure book by Freer & Perdue since all the sections require that book, as well as Elements of Law for our Legal Methods class and the required book for the LWRAP class.

"Part of qualifying for a grant includes participation in a set number of volunteer hours."

So we don't need to fulfill these volunteer hours if we're not trying to get this grant for non-profit/govt. summer jobs right?

so to ask the question again, would not sending a loci be a kiss of death to the adcom?

would fedex-ing one now do anything at all?

initally i thought it would be hopeless to wait on them especially since my numbers are on the low side but i've suddenly been hit with hope and longing.

From NY  :)

glad to see there are a couple of other people who felt it was safe to leave NY... and everyone i met at ASD, long time no see! had to stop obsessing for a while and take care of other life things.

question for captain longshot: i applied for 1 bedroom at clairmont throught their online registration form. how soon would i hear back from them and is it reasonble to expect to get a 1 bedroom this late? i received an email confirmation of my application but haven't heard anything for two weeks....

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: U of Miami ($$$) or Emory ($$)

i'm not sure how emory compares with miami regarding international law, but that department in general seems to be getting stronger or at least stronger than it has been. this is anecdotal tho~

they also don't have their own study abroad programs or anything but you can go abroad with any ABA approved program with another school. so i would think that's a good thing.. you could pick schools a lot stronger than miami like American, GULC, NYU, Cornell and go abroad with them. don't kno how difficult it is to accomplish this as i don't kno if it's a matter of applying and getting accepted or just paying for it. usually within schools you have to apply and be accepted into these programs.

emory also has an international law journal, which will look great on your CV if you can place into with grades or get on by sheer writing ability.

i got a lot of $$ and a stipend to visit at both and felt obliged to visit. i live in dc and know gtown pretty well, already. the bay area was too pricey to visit, but i will do so soon. sorry you are all insecure about cornell. ask any recruiting people at big firms about what they think.

wait what? i spoke to lynell or however you spell her name in the admissions office before the visiting day and she specifically said emory does not give stipends for visits...

how did you get yours?
