I don't know of anyone else that has been deferred from Wayne...anyone out there know someone (or is someone) who has? I am the only one on LSN, not that it has a huge data set for Wayne, but I also haven't met anyone else who was deferred. I have been placed "within the group of applicants it will continue to consider for admission to Law School fo Fall 2005. The committee has decided, however, to defer a final decision on your application, and others like yours, in order to review all such applications at one time". We expect to be able to give you a final decision no later than April 15, 2005.

I am not sure what I am going to do as of right now because I am also considering a job as a legal assistant at Skadden Arps in Washington DC. I should hear from them this week if I am being given an offer (I have a good feeling about it).

I welcome any info (if you know of any other Wayne defferals) or opinions...law school (if its an option) or job (great expereince, resume builder...) THANKS!

Choosing the Right Law School / Couldn't wait any longer...
« on: February 07, 2005, 01:25:41 PM »
So today is two days shy of 8 weeks since my application has been complete at Wayne State, and I couldn't take the wait any longer so I finally called the admissions office. The lady on the phone said that she saw my application go in to the committee today and then put me on hold briefly. She came back to say that I should expect to see a decision within the next week. I couldn't read her at all.  ??? I am really nervous, has anyone had any similiar experiences with Wayne State or any other schools? The data set on LSN is so small for Wayne State that it is difficult to make any inferences about any possible trends in the distribution/timeline of acceptances and defferals.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: in at wayne state

I got the email too. I would imagine I will attend the meeting on the 24th, but I believe the email said it was an admissions info meeting, and I am certainly hoping to hear something before the 24th. Michigan winters are no picnic, but I am a sucker for winter sports and actually don't mind the cold. Can't beat the tuition and living expenses for this area either...
Wish I didn't have class until 9:30 pm, so I could run home and assult the mailman again...

My bro is a 1L at Wayne so I know a bit about it...so far he loves it.  I know that in the year he accepted, it was in the bottom of tier II (or so I thought).  Their new dean is reportedly awesome (stanford alum, I think), he really really enjoys his classes, has one prof in particular he likes (who has argued in front of the supreme court and has another case pending soon).  If any of y'all attend, look at housing in Royal Oak as the area around the school itself is apparently pretty bad...

Oh and as far as in-Michigan employment prospects, I remember reading in Susan Estrich's book that Wayne is the 2nd best at placement in MI, besides Umich.

Good luck everyone!

I currently live in Royal Oak and it is a great place to live, its not a bad commute to Wayne. Traffic can be a female dog, like anywhere, but just try to avoid rush hour whenever possible. I'm glad to hear about 1Ls who are happy at Wayne, I really hope they let me in. It def has the best placement in Michigan, after U of M of course.

Thanks for the information Thumbelina. Very helpful. Wayne is a great school and I agree about its prospects at moving up the ratings a little bit. (Hopefully that doesn't mean that they won't accept me though, lol) My LSAT is below average at Wayne, but my GPA is above, and I am hoping (as pathetic as it may be) that my work exp/LORs from one of the top local law firms will give me a little boost. Nothing in the mail today, but I haven't given up hope yet...any information people can add would be greatly appreciated. ;D

congrats linzy628. wayne is where I am hoping to go. When were you complete? I know your numbers are better than mine, but I have been complete since 12/15, so this is the beginning of the 7th week, and I am getting nervous. mad dash to the mailbox everyday. I heard it's just a plain, thin white envelope, true?

Thanks for the info and congrats!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Dreaming about Acceptances...
« on: January 17, 2005, 07:01:21 AM »
So last night I had a dream that I received an acceptance letter from my top choice. The dream was so realistic that when I woke up, I still thought I had for a good 3 minutes, until I realized it was all a dream. What a bummer of a way to start the week...

you mean when whoever said "big 10"? that's the school's athletic conference for the mid-west(ish) area. (i.e. big 10, pac-10, big east?)

NOT refering to the law school's rankings...
