i'm currently awaiting fall oci and had some thoughts on thank you letters, post interview. outside of the law i've heard it was a good idea but career services told me that it was just another chance to make a mistake. So... do you send 'em or not?

I'm currently a rising 2l attending an upper T2 in Philadelphia. While I dreamed of being in the top 10, 25, or 33%, it was not in the cards (right now I'm at the median). While NALP and OCI have tons of info on BIG LAW, I have found little to no resources on sending out mailings/applying to/ or obtaining Summer Associtaships with Midsized to Small Firms. I realize my grades will hurt me but I have plenty of WE. I'm not looking to make 6 figures, anything above $55,000 will be fine for my first few years. How do I find the firms to apply to (I'm thinking family law) and what can I do to standout? I love lawschool but would dread not working as a lawyer after my three year investment.

Just to clarify, I am primarily interested in either Family Law or Criminal Work, but have about 5 years buisness experince. So if buisness is going to pay the bills (damn student loans) then so be it.

Here is the situation, I'm a rising 2L at temple. First semester was good (was in top 1/3) second semester was not so good (Below 50% mark). As it stands now I am just below what I expect to be the 50% mark.
I've resigned myself to the fact that Biglaw is not going to happen, but... If anyone with detailed knowledge can tell me about the current status of mid sized and small firms in the Philly market(including average starting salaries) it would be quite helpful. BTW I do want to stay in Philadelphia, though I would be willing to go to the surrounding counties (Del. Mont. or Bucks) if need be. Thanks for the help. 5

Wow, great job! Talk about last minute! I never even knew such a thing was possible at IUB, but nice going anyways!
I suppose they'd rather get students with higher qualifications than to pull people from their wait-list. 6

Does anyone have a ball-park figure on what the 2007-2008 tuition will likely be and what the expenses will be? Is health insurance and a laptop still included in the fees? Does anyone have an idea on what the typical yearly percentage rise in tuition is? Thanks in advance. 7

Does anyone know of some relatively inexpensive (500-700) 1 BRs near (within 15 miles) the law school?
