No, I'm 0L... I just saw that it seemed like they have a sense of humor, which seems out of the ordinary for a lot of big firms; plus, I am interested in IP law, so just curious about the firm and what they look for in a summer assoc.

I'm telling you, I lived there for 2 years and it was hell. People getting robbed at gunpoint in the parking garage, my best friend's car was stolen, my husband's motorcycle was stolen, my next door neighbor's apartment was broken into, an old lady was robbed...all of this in the building, and within the span of a few months. And these are just the incidents that I heard about because they happened to me and people I knew.
Trust me on this one. It's not worth it.
Comparisons like that are always rhetorical and I wouldn't recommend getting too het up over them.
I would usually agree with you, but the point of the thred is kindof all about getting too het up over things. And I do find the comparison personally offensive, so why not get het up? I find the comparison much much much more offensive than using the "f" word, in my opinion. It isnt fair to say one is offensive and one isn't.
I love it. The letter is a bit deceiving though because he should have said that UF has been playing the U.S. News rankings like a fiddle in the past and finally got busted. I hope they fall to Tier 2.
no one is arguing that FIU is even close to UF or FSU Law. my only point is that the goal is to achieve that status whether it takes 5, 10 or 20 years. fact is that we have a solid faculty, stringent admissions standards for a new school and it only costs 8K a year to go to law school in miami. hopefully, the rankings and accolades will follow down the road.
also, i will bet my life on it that everyone that is in the first year class of FIU also got into Nova and St. Thomas if they applied there.
