Current Law Students / Re: What happens if I quit my 1L job
« on: June 09, 2007, 06:59:04 PM »
I think that if you quit, you'll regret it. Try to stick it out and just remember that it's only 2 months.

I'm not in law school yet, but for some reason I don't expect to have a "fun" summer once I get there. In your position, I'd be psyched to make money as a 1 L.

I think they are symbols of love, for the most part, but some girls are ridiculous with their expectations. A friend of mine said that unless her boyfriend gives her a certifiable rock, he's out of the picture... *rolls eyes*.

I have a gripe w/St.John's simply because I applied in December and still haven't gotten word on whether I've been accepted or rejected. I don't care at this point, as I've chosen my school, but 6 months with no correspondence? Come on.

Villanova makes me sad because they sent me an acceptance letter the day after I signed a lease for my apartment in Pittsburgh. While I like Pitt much better, that was bittersweet and pretty annoying.

Albany just completely sucks. I applied with both my LSAT and GPA waaayyyy over their 75% (thinking I may get a free ride, or close to that), and they didn't send me an acceptance until late April. No mention of merit aid whatsoever. They did, however, send me a pack of highlighters and a keychain. WTF?!?! I'm not in 2nd grade....give me cash!

On the flip side, I loved Pitt (obviously), Rutgers-N, and Richmond. Everyone in their offices and/or at their ASDs was incredibly friendly and receptive to questions.

Nothing-- applied in December!!

I applied in December and I still haven't heard a thing. I've already made my decision to go to Pitt, but this is really annoying. Is anyone else still waiting on them.

The Fits are so cute. I just bought a Jetta, and I definitely wish I got something a little cooler. And yeah, I agree on going with a crazy color. If you like orange, go for's only a matter of time before you'll be a professional and feel the need to go with something boring, aka. navy or gray.

Hey-- I got an apartment in Shadyside through Mozart Management. It's called the Highmont, and it's on 5th ave about 1.5 miles from the school. I was told to get an apt. through them or Franklin West. I looked in N.Oakland and couldn't find anything I liked. If you want more details about the search/prices, feel free to PM me.

Oh, and it's definitely a good idea to organize something for the c/o '10 to hang out before school starts. I'm not from the area, and I'm living by myself, so meeting people before the stress sets in would be awesome.

Both schools are very regional, so I would say pick the school based on location and atmosphere. If this means going to Cleveland-Marshall and saving money w/in-state tuition, that wouldn't be a bad choice.

I personally love Pittsburgh, and am not a huge fan of Philly. Pitt has a seriously low cost of living, a lower crime rate (by far), and beautiful parks and hiking trails in the surrounding areas (I grew up in rural NJ, so this matters to me). People there, IMO, are also friendlier in comparison. I feel like most people who call it Shittsburg, or completely trash it, have either never been there or were comparing it to Manhattan. To each their own.

I would go to Case without a second thought, simply because law is full of prestige whores. Plus, John Marshall would restrict your friend to Chicago (and may not lead to a well-paying job), while doing well @ Case would open up more doors.
