But this year I hope to a) win the Baird scotch tasting item and b) not accidently bid against my own group. Should I have talked to my firm about this yet? I called them up to accept my offer a couple months ago, and that's the last contact we had. 3

Yeah, in addition to the fact that when you find out your grade doesn't change your grade....we're not 1Ls, so I doubt anyone will get particularly worked up about this. 4

When someone said something about that last week, I was like, "WTF? Isn't it blind grading?" Yeah, like others have said, I don't think there's any reason to think the exams weren't graded blindly. The more you guys talk about this though the more I'm not really OK with it. There's just something that doesn't sit right about certain people getting their grades a couple weeks before the rest of the class. But I think it's not bothering me for two reasons....1) like SB I really just don't care, 2) it seems very in keeping with what I know of Henderson....I think if someone like Levmore or Samaha did that, I'd be more surprised. I don't think there's anything wrong with calling students to congratulate students on grades, like pre read on Volokh....but I think when you're doing it a while before other students get their grades, something about it doesn't feel right (although like pre said, maybe something weird happened and Henderson thought we were all getting grades that day).
Really? Isn't that like rooting for the Yankees? 5

I'll straddle the fence on the Henderson thing....I think it's fairly weird/shady/inappropriate, but I don't really care...I'm not outraged or anything.

I guess it was fitting that Favre got crushed while making a forward lateral at the end there. It sucks that the Jets didn't make it, but if they would have won and kept Chad out of the playoffs and put the Pats in, that would have been the ultimate insult to injury. 7

Sorry if I jumped the gun on that whole thing. On an unrelated note....Ravens are up 24-7...looks like the season's over....at this point I'm rooting against the Jets to keep the Pats out. You with me pre? 8
LSAC and LSDAS / Re: Updated Transcript?« on: December 28, 2008, 05:04:09 AM »If you still have outstanding decisions, you should update them with your fall grades. titcr, resend to lsac right away....maybe even email the admissions offices to let them know to expect an updated transcript soon 9
Where should I go next fall? / Re: Boston College 1.5L taking questions...« on: December 27, 2008, 11:38:55 PM »Eh. I don't think that my school is that time-demanding at all, and I'm easily in the top quarter in terms of work ethic, IMO. I go to the same school as Wally, and if I had to guess I'd say 75% of my 1L class (I'm a 2L now) did less than 3 hours of work a day, and I think there were plenty who did an hour or less a day....until the week before finals. Maybe people were secretly gunning though. Oh, and....@#!* em up @#!* em up BC SUCKS

1L job search / Re: Political Jobs« on: December 27, 2008, 11:03:05 PM »
I don't really have much to add, other than I'm with goalie completely on this one. I did two internships in senate offices during college (both dems), and I got the feeling that interviewers couldn't have cared less about the political leanings of the senators. Even when the interviewer was a republican, I think the internships were universally a good thing for me, judging by how those parts of the interviews went. I guess it might be different working for planned parenthood or something, but I'm kinda skeptical.
Also on a side note, don't most lawyers in firms lean democratic? I remember seeing somewhere that political contributions from lawyers overwhelmingly go to Democrats, but I might be making that up. |
