Hey NYU people: How long after you guys mailed out your deposits did you get correspondence frok NYU confirming that they've received it? I sent my deposit out last Friday and have yet to  hear from them. Should I bother checking up on it tomorrow, since tomorrow's the deadline?

Tx.

This is a little bit of what would make me lean towards GW (in addition to the $$ of course). The students I met just happened to be more into getting their drink on, but the 0L's I met were really smart, and seemed passionate. I mean, all the current students were  great and friendly, just not overly enthusiastic. But maybe next year's class will be, and that'll make a difference.

Can't live in the Aston though. Maybe if they got rid of the furniture in there, but they seem so unwilling to do that.

Can u talk a little more about the Aston, since I didnt get a chance to ck it out (the positives and negatives)? Thanks.

Anyone who said that NYU's aid is anything but merit aid is terribly mistaken.

37K is pretty good for a T4. I hope I get that much.

Turns out all you need is a killer sense of entitlement! Good luck!

Well I dont anticipate having to borrow 180K, more like 100. And by the time we graduate, frugal jr. associates will be able to pay that off in 2 years.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Duke or Georgetown?!?!?!

$18K a year is very nice as it's basically 1/3 tuition. It doesn't hurt to ask for more money, and Duke might have some more money in it's reserves once people that it had previously offered money to withdraw.

Duke is more prestigious than GULC both in the legal field and to laymen. The main question is, as others have said, do u want to live in the city for the next 3 years or NC? The 1/3 tuition would push me towards Duke personally.

It's a good thing you're going to law school and not, you know, anything involving numbers  :). Duke tuition is not $60,000 a year. It's $38,000. $18k/year is about half tuition.

From everything I've read/heard, Duke is a lot better than Georgetown. I'm really surprised to hear some people in this thread say GULC is more prestigious. I bet they got into GULC (or go there) but not Duke. I got into both so I'm unbiased (okay, not really, because I'm leaning towards Duke and actually not really considering Georgetown anymore).

I'm guessing you're assuming that OP is going to sleep on a park bench? Factoring in COL, Duke costs about 56K to attend.

No, I was just assuming you knew the definition of "tuition."

ICEBUUUUURN.

Pathetic. Get off this board.

Not really. Didn't get enough money from either to make a difference. You?
