I just finished watching season 4 of "The Wire" so I listed St. Louis Juvenile Detention Center as my #1, and chose the rest randomly. HBO has inspired me...

Do you think we can get away with just bringing a shirt and tie?

I'd like to give this the newscaster treatment if I can.

So what is everyone planning to do for the Orientation Local Attraction Activity?

I was thinking either Dave & Busters or Sky Zone....

The zoo and sky zone sound pretty cool to me. The past nine months have been extremely serious, i'd like to get silly with some dodgeball.

Sky zone sounds fun.  The zoo is something I could do later.  I wonder if the drinks at Dave and Buster's are free, though...

Had to chuckle at the Anheuser Busch brewery tour.  I sort of feel obligated to drink budweiser now, but I just can't bring myself to.

I don't care what building I study torts in -- I will always be way too much of a beer snob to do THAT.

Also, where is everyone going to buy their beds/furnishings? There were a couple of recommendations in the survival guide but I'm not too sure about them. I'm just used to going to Ikea (God bless the Swedish.)

Anyone having a hard time setting up utilities? I called Ameren UE for electricity and it went smooth but I've spent the last two days holding on the phone for a freakin' AT&T rep to take my order for internet and cable service. I've always loathed AT&T but I have no choice as I was told Comcast and Charter do not service my area. Anyone else?

Sorry for being unhelpful, but what area are you in? I'm haven't gotten a place in St. Louis yet and I just can't deal with DSL. Access to cable bandwith might be a deciding factor in my apartment hunt.

"They" say I'm in south county and across the street there is charter and comcast. Aint that some crazy sh*t? I finally got a hold of someone though. I've been a cable-internet service guy for years but I'll be getting a DSL program with 6.5mbps, that is almost twice as fast as the roadrunner I have right now (If AT&T is not pulling my legs, thats pretty fast if you ask me, I would love it though  ;D). I also got a home phone line for only 7 bucks a month. Make sure to ask whoever you rent from what kind of service they've got. The satellite service they offered me is pretty cool too, I wont have a dish on my patio so thats nice. Wish I could have all my cable simplicity instead, thats not an option in this case though.

Man, that's messed up. The concern I have with ATT DSL is speed and stability issues. My parents have it at their home and the DSL drops out periodically (I need to manually reconnect it for them) and speeds aren't as high as promised.

Things could be different in St. Louis though.

Flying out from Los Angeles on August 12th. Still don't have a place - I'm supposed to meet with people from the Byron company and take a tour of their places and move in next day.

Am I the only person shipping a car? This is expensive as hell!

anyone living near the intersection of waterman and clara?  i just signed a lease around there this morning.  i've also looked at a bunch of other places in that area that were pretty decent...i might be able to point you in a few directions if anyone is still looking

I'm still looking (especially around that area). Please point away. :)

I was thinking of getting a studio near Waterman and Kings Highway. Did you happen to see the buildings near that end?

Anyone know anything about the CWE, Waterman/Kingshighway area? I originally wanted to set up a roommate situation but most people seem to be living on their own, so I'm thinking of getting a studio in this location.

Wow, thanks for all the input people. Being over 1500 miles away from St. Louis is making this a hard move but this forum has brought me some peace of mind.
