First of all, I want to tell all of you who also got off the list congrats, and those who didn't keep hoping. For those of you who got in though, where do you plan on living? I think I'm going to live on campus (Manchester Village). Anyone else?

You know, those scene kids with that swoop of hair that covers one eye? And they wear girl pants.

I should say that most of my actual friends genuinely understand music, and don't get into all of the indier-than-thou BS, but when you go to these shows, talk to people at music stores, read on the internet, and just associate with this crowd and the pbr bars associated with it, you tend to just run into too many people of that mindset. So I'm always a little suspcious
Yeah, it's one thing to be weird and another to be self-consciously weird. I mean, but basically TMV's vision is to be a stranger and more rocking Santana, if you ask me. The music is so much more Latin than anyone realizes. It probably kills them that that angle isn't the focal point of the reviews, but their roots are with ATDI, so rock will always be the touchstone.
I really think of their music as a soundtrack to a month-long psychadelic trip in the deserts of Mexico, or something like that. If nothing else, it's definitely a musical distillation of magical realism. Some of their songs make more sense to me than long passages of Rushdie. I like the comment about how they set up their own little reality.
I am interested to hear the next album...I definitely will keep following their exploits for another disc or two at least.
Has anyone here heard the Autolux album?
You are dead on guy. I think they've gone overboard with Francis (I haven't heard the new one yet). I think it's just too weird, it's almost like they did it to make a point. This is coming from a big ATDI fan though... Don't get me wrong I like out their stuff, like Black Eyes, Blonde Redheads etc., but I was bummed with the second TMV disc. Also there is a ton of Latin influence, which I like, haha but I can't listen to that third song because it sounds like that Carlos Santana/Matchbox 20 guy. As for the "indie scene kids" One thing I can't stand is the swoop. I'm sorry if any of you have a swoop, but I gotta say, death to the swoop.

Hey, ok let me see what I can tell you. The email was real basic, subject matter said congrats from USD: "Dear, Morgan after reviewing your application we are pleased to offer you a position in the day program. Please respond by Wed., July 12th. We will send more details, thanks" I went to a private university in Utah called Westminster. My degree was in International Business. I had a 3.5 (3.5 degree) and I scored a 159 on the LSAT. I'm of basque ethnicity. If you want anymore details I'll be happy to answer. Best of luck to you.
