Where should I go next fall? / Re: Case Western or Baylor?
« on: June 29, 2004, 10:49:57 AM »
Waco SUCKS, and I heard Cleveland is actually pretty cool. I have a friend who goes to Case, and although I don't know how common this is, he's looking at jobs in both L.A. and Atlanta. If you are on the left politically, Waco is not the greatest place to hang out, except for the fact that it's only 1 1/2 hrs from Austin. Unless the cold would bother you too much, it seems like a no-brainer: take the money from Case. I applied and got into Case, and I live and work at a firm in Atlanta, and all of the attorneys here felt that it has a great reputation. One of our partners even went there. I don't know, I'd say Case for sure, but you gotta decide.

Shaq is looking like a tired female dog, but I think he's sick of Kobe.  I'm thinking if LA brought a genuine superstar into the point, who had real chemistry with shaq, we might see the old shaq come back.  In which case LA would be unbeatable again.

First, you cannot blame Kobe for Shaq's downfall. He's just too f'in big, and you can't sustain that level of energy and play on that enormous of a frame. Say, for instance, Kobe left the Lakers and Kidd came in, Shaq would still only be streaky at best. Just like we saw this season. You just can't count on the big guy for much, as much as I love him and hate to see him go. Kobe has longevity, and I think that with the team as "his," he will explode.

Second, how annoying would it be if Shaq went to the Kings for C-Webb and Bibby? I might not be able to watch the NBA anymore.

Law School Applications / Re: DON'T GO TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know I'm going to hate being a lawyer.  On the other hand, I hate what I do now and I would hate doing anything at all.  So I may as well be a lawyer.

which of the following can you logically infer from the passage?

a) All lawyers hate their jobs
b) If you hate what you do now, you will hate what you do later
c) If you hate what you do now, you may as well be a lawyer
d) If you are a lawyer, you hate your job
e) If you love what youre doing now, you should not become a lawyer.

b?

It doesn't. But if you planned on having applications in very early, they won't be complete until after october lsat scores come in and are reported. Schools won't know, though.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: After yesterday, I need some advice...

Also, Villa Nova takes the highest score, and I read that their 25th percentile is like 155 not 157, but I guess it could have changed.

I got my info from the lsac official aba-approved school guide, so i just wanted to let you know I didn't pull those numbers out of thin air.

I'm from neither the North or the South, (CA), but I moved to Atlanta for undergrad and have lived here for a total of about 6 years now. I don't identify with either of the demographic groups, so I feel like my opinion is at least somewhat unbiased. A lot of what people said, positive and negative, is true about both Southerners and Northern transplants based on my observations. However, I don't think it's fair or accurate to make blanket statements about either group, as I have known many, many exceptions to all of the "rules" listed.

Here are Villanova's numbers 25%-75% GPA are 3.2-3.6, so you're above the 75th percentile, which is good. The problem is the 25-75 range for LSATs is 157-160. Ie: it's risky if you think you did worse on the LSAT this time. I'm not telling you what to do, but it's something to consider.

Wait List / Re: U Georgia waitlist update?
« on: June 09, 2004, 02:21:06 PM »
I have not heard anything either. Last time I talked to someone in admissions, they were very UNhelpful. I know of people who were rejected off the waitlist a few weeks ago, but I haven't heard of any acceptances.

True, if football is all you care about. I care more about the fact that we went to the ncaa finals in bball. and we'll see how super regionals go this weekend....

Our mens basketball program had a rough season but it did come with some big wins -- including a 2OT victory over Tech in the beginning of the year. Our womens basketball team beat Tech too...

But apparently there's one thing we can agree on -- Go Lakers!
Yes, we do have that. And who am I kidding? Our football team sucks, Tech is a miserable place to go to school, and I applied and considered going to UGA Law. But I still got love for GT (so long as I don't have to go to school there anymore).
