Where should I go next fall? / Re: CLS 1L taking questions
« on: October 05, 2006, 11:49:26 PM »
Hi I really want to go to Columbia if I don't get into Harvard or Yale or Stanford or Chicago.  I just graduated high school early and am a freshman at an Ivy League school (I can't say which one) and I was wondering if you know if Columbia accepts people who are only 19 when they enter although this is assuming that I graduate college in three years which I am sure that I will be able to do so if you know anything about Columbia's admission policy for mature late teenage entrants or if you know anyone in your first year class that is 18 or 19 or even as old as 20 will you please let me know because I am really nervous that after I graduate in three years I would only be 19 when I start law school so I was thinking that maybe some of the top law schools would not accept me even if I got a 180 and had a 4.0 because I would be too young and that they would think that I wasn't mature enough to go to law school.  My mom lives in New York so do you think that this would make a difference in my admission to Columbia if I could tell them that she would be around to help me clean and cook and do laundry so that they would not worry that I would be too young to take care of myself because it would be okay because I would have my mom to help me?

I don't get it, what does Seppuku have to do with Canada and law school?

If you don't know, you'd better retake the LSAT.

Oh, I haven't taken the LSAT yet, I'm just graduating high school at 15, that's all.  I'm pretty sure that I'll get a 180, though.

What the frick is your rush?  Enjoy your time in college.  It's the best 4-6 years of your life.  Work sucks.  It will for many, many years.  Why rush to it?

I so agree with this. I graduated in three years cause I was paying my through college and didn't want any more debt, but I wish I had one more year before being thrown into the real world.

When I started college, at the dean's assembly they anounced that the youngest freshman in the starting class was 15 years old. I couldn't help but feel sorry for this guy.

I turn 16 this summer.  I'm excited.  In college, the girls will be more on my intellectual level and won't ignore me so much.

Law School Applications / Re: Worst Admissions Staff in T14

I'm going to write this entire list down and make a chart of how it changes with each passing month and then show it to my math teacher to see what he thinks about the worst admissions offices of law schools and then ask him how much difference it will make when applying to law school whether or not the people in the admissions offices are rude or nice and then save the list until after I graduate college and then come back on this website and post the old list again but also put up a new question like this one and see how much things have changed over the years so we can see if the law schools that were mean learned their lessons.

Oh no, I am sure that I want to go to law school.  I want to be just like Skip on Boston Legal.

like who?

Boston Legal was a really cool show.  Skip was this lawyer who finished law school early but couldn't get a job because of his age.  He was so awesome.  You should buy the dvd set and watch it.

how about dougie howser?  :D

my favorite episode being the one where he's out on a date and his girlfriend has appendicitis and he has to perform a vaginal examination on her.

I've never heard of that show.  Is it new?

BTW, it is illegal to encourage someone to kill themselves. HTH.

not in canadia.

Oh, come on, you can't make up countries just to win an argument.

it's not made up.  J lives there.

Actually, he's right.  It's Canada, not Canadia, and Canada is a very large country North of the United States.

Thank you so much.  I feel better now after sleeping last night.  You are going to apply next year to law school?  What undergrad do you go to?  What is your major?  Did you take a testmasters course yet?  I am really nervous about going to Harvard next fall.  What if I should have gone to Yale and then I don't get into Yale law school because I picked the wrong undergrad?  What should I do?
