Transferring / Re: Transfer Resume Question« on: February 16, 2009, 10:01:06 PM »ILoveCorplaw: See my post above. When still in school, resumes are supposed to have both because everyone knows 2L/3L are on lax-er curves. 3
Transferring / Re: Transfer from a T25 to T14...?« on: February 10, 2009, 09:33:13 PM »Anybody have any idea how transfers from T20-30 schools do at schools like MVP? I've heard that they usually do fairly well, but I'm curious if anyone has any information on this. Very good for all those whose grades I know. 4
General Board / Re: Prof Posted Sample Answers from T25 and YLS« on: February 10, 2009, 08:22:49 PM »Although I didn't want to think it at first, the YLS answers blew the T25 answers out of the water on similar tests. The best students at the T25 and the best at YLS didn't compete. The YLS students got so much deeper into the facts, I had to close my eyes, lest I be blown away by analytical prowess and intellectual ability. I won't mention that the best T25 exam missed the law, analyzed the wrong things, and still beat the classmates. I'm inclined to disagree as a general matter, but I'd be curious to see these exams. 5
General Board / Re: what to get out of a mentorship specifically?« on: February 08, 2009, 01:45:23 PM »His recommendation for you to be hired when you do OCI next fall. Granted. But it's worthwhile to get them to work out that way where possible. 6

Well let's be honest here: whether you say it outright or not (and you shouldn't, of course) that is the ultimate purpose of this relationship. Play this up as much as you can; it'll be a great connection for you. 7

Transferring / Re: Transfer Resume Question« on: February 04, 2009, 10:10:07 PM »Hey all, thanks in advance for any responses. My question is; I am now at a T20 school, and did very well this past term, but did very well during my first yr as well, and was wondering if I should still keep my old school GPA/rank listed under my new school info on my resume. I ask because when employers ask for my transcript, it will not include the grades I earned during my first year, but only that I passed each of those classes. Any suggestions? (fyi my previous law school was a t4, but I was 2nd in my class.) Thanks a lot! Leave grades for both on until you graduate, at which point take off the grades for the former school but leave the fact that you attended for a year. 9
Transferring / Re: Transfer to Penn from t14« on: January 30, 2009, 04:55:22 PM »I don't think I'm overstating the case, and I have good reason to know. Apologies for being less than clear. I did transfer to Penn, albeit from a traditional top 25 school. My grades were higher than 3.5, but I know other transfers here who had around that GPA from schools that are similar to the one I transferred from--granted they, like the OP, had connections to the area. I'm inferring that the GPA + connections that sufficed to get people in from lesser schools would be enough to basically assure the OP an acceptance assuming no grade drop, etc. 10
Transferring / Re: Transfer to Penn from t14« on: January 30, 2009, 03:23:08 PM »I am from Philadelphia and I am currently not happy where I am at (T14). The median is 3.3 and right now my GPA is above a 3.5. I plan to work in Philly following graduation and love to go to school there. Does anyone have a educated guess of my chances? I know lateral transfers with personal connections are supposed to be easier. I don't think I'm overstating the case, and I have good reason to know. |
