Cam108 Sorry this is late, but maybe you still check this thread. My first semester was awesome. It was alot of hard work though. Something they will not tell you is that 10% of your class will flunk. DONT be one of those. It was somewhat easy to tell who they would be though by the amount of work they put in. In law school being smart is not enough and working hard is not enough. Just do all the reading, make outlines, and keep up and you will do fine. I made the dean's list and I had a 2.0 GPA in undergrad. So the past is the past, you could have a 4.0 and fail. Just work hard and it will work out. Overall I thought the classes were fun, some of the professors are tough on the students, but don't take it personal and you will be fine. Ever seen the movie "paper chase" well there are a Prof's that model their approach to the socratic method from the prof in that movie. Overall though it was awesome, and I would recommend STCL to anyone.

I went ahead and bought the book for Civ Pro. I found it online at Wal-Mart (seems kinda funny wal mart would have law books) Anyway they were the cheapest and I can't imagine the bookstore will be cheaper. It was $82 plus I get 5% for my sons college through upromise, (maybe I will be able to pay his way through college by buying my textbooks!) FWIW
See yall at orientation!

I will be attending full time. Luckily I have a very supportive wife! I am not sure about the Metro. I checked their website and it looks like they have a park and ride at Bay Area Mall and the bus goes right to San Jacinto St. I am going to move down on the 7th so I will probably spend all day monday the 10th trying to figure out how the bus runs timing etc.. If I can get a bus pass and the schedule works then that will be another 1.5 hours I can spend studying rather than driving. from what I have heard every hour in your day counts. I have not heard anything about orientation other than it is on Wed, Thur, and Sat?? seems strange to have it on a Sat. I a really looking forward to getting started though!

ok ruskie I deserved it. That was the second worst game A&M had this year. Congrats to your Vols that Clausen kid looked good. Got a bright future for yalls program that is for sure! I wish the Aggies would have played up to there potential though it would have been a much better game. Even at there best though I don't think they could have overcame the speed Ten. defense had. There is always next year!

To the original question. Buy an IBM T series. I have a T40 at work and have had it for almost 2 years. This thing is awesome. I lug it to meeting after meeting to the house etc and have never had a problem even after beating it to hell. I bought a T42 for school off of EBAY a couple of months ago and I love it! I found it cheaper on ebay than IBM employee purchase price(it was new in box as well). Plus I got a 3 year warranty and no taxes!I payed $1400 for it. One diff between T and R series is what they are made of. The R is plastic and the T is magnesium which is lighter and more durable.I have 512 of ram and that suits me fine. I really can't tell the different between my work T40 1.3g 512 and personal 1.7g 512. I have yet to really slow down my work one either and that is running oracle, access, about 5 excel files a few explorer windows and lotus notes if this won't slow it down I can't imagine anything you would need in law school will slow it down. 512 of ram should be plenty.

I got into STCL for the spring. I have not heard anything from UofH and since they only have a fall admissions I am too impatient to wait. I will have to pay double at STCL than I would at UofH, but it is to big a gamble to wait and find out about UofH. I doubt I would have been admitted there anyway. So South Texas it is in 4 weeks!. It was such short notice I have not even recieved my letter yet. They called me and told me, then gave me the login for the admitted students site so I could download my registration package to mail in. Do you work at a software company in Austin?

I too am done. I start in the spring semester so I only have 2 weeks left. I turned in my notice today. I found out on Tuesday (it's now friday) It has been fun though. In two short days I told off a vice president, several division managers, and a couple of coworkers. As soon as I found out I pulled out the figurative can of gasoline and have not just burned bridges but have BLOWN them away. in an all hands meeting with 2000 people I told off the Vice President of our plant (let me tell you vice pres. of fortune 500 company's don't like to be told off in front of a whole factory) I received a hero's welcome afterwards though. People thought I had lost my mind. We are having layoffs coming up so I was trying to get on the layoff list. (The severance package would be enough to pay for my first year) Unfortunately word got out so now that they know I am leaving there is no way they will give me a package. It has been fun trying to get laid off though. I can't seem to totaly slack off because I like my boss and my group and anything I don't do they have to pick up the slack on. I am just ready to go though that is for sure. At least I am going out in a blaze of glory, I think my comments to the VP in the all hands meeting will be talked about for years here! I have said things I have wanted to say for 5 years.....FREEDOM!!!
