Law School Applications / Advice on LOCI
« on: January 11, 2012, 01:12:24 PM »
I still have not received a decision from my first choice school (I am some what of a splitter). However, I was accepted to my second choice school with all kinds of incentives if I send my seat deposit in by Feb. 1st. It's getting pretty close to that date and I am not sure if I should contact my top school and inform them of my predicament and that they are my top school or attempt to wait it out until the bitter end and pass up the incentives if need be. I do not want to contact them if it has the possibility of being more of an annoyance. Any advice?

I would suggest taking a prep course or taking more time to study. When your prep test scores are in the range you would like your actual test score to be, take the LSAT again. Good Luck!

Law School Applications / GPA addendum...too much?
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:09:27 PM »
Hi, I am new to this site. I read through a lot of posts and feel that I might be able to get some good advice on my GPA addendum here. So here it is...

"Dear Admissions Committee Members,
There are some areas of my academic transcript that deserve some clarifying. During the majority of my undergraduate studies I was a young single mother working a full time job as a sole provider for my daughter. Due to this time constraint, I had to take more online courses than I preferred and feel that this hampered my personal interaction with my professors thus weakening my GPA.
Furthermore, I was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2008 and continued to receive treatment until December of 2010. I refused to allow my medical condition to hinder my education, but it did take a toll on my GPA. Now, cancer free and with my daughter in school, I am eager to perform at a level more in line with my dedication and ability."
