Job Search / IL Biglaw Summer Prospects/Advice

I'm going to be a IL at Duke Law this fall, and I know it's a little early but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for how to obtain a Biglaw summer position? I understand getting one of these is next to impossible, and Duke is a good school but it's not a T6 or anything but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a small scholarship that covers around 30% of tuition, and my UGPA was good not great (3.76) but what can I do over the course of the school year to make myself more attractive to these firms? I would like to eventually go into M&A law, but am open to anything at this point. Thanks!

Law School Applications / Best course of action for explaining poor grades to law schools?

I am currently a third-year student at UCLA, and while my undergraduate GPA is solid (3.7) I took some community college courses in high school and didn't do so well in them (3.1, including one D). I was 15-16 at the time, and want to accurately convey to law schools that I was stupid kid without proper direction so that they place my undergrad gpa on a much higher plateau. What is the best way to approach this issue? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
