Law School Admissions / Private loans
« on: April 17, 2006, 01:37:52 PM »
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a loan for an amount over the budget?  I've heard a couple people mention private student loans that don't require school approval, but I haven't been able to find much info on these.  I'm wanting to borrow an initial additional 10-15K to pay of the remainder of a mortgage on a rental property so I don't have to make payments during school.  This way a) I can use all the rent I collect as profit and b) I won't be put in a bind (and possibly not be able to make the mortgage payment) if I have tenants move out during the school year.  Any suggestions would be great!

That's was email then snail mail, although I don't remember the size of the package.  They also later sent a package with a t-shirt (the only school to send me any cool stuff)!  I'm not going there so I'll get my w/d form out to them today so they can at least move on with one more decision.

Law School Admissions / Lost Mail??!!! What do I do now?
« on: March 30, 2006, 01:25:38 PM »
I applied to 18 schools back in December (just before Christmas) and have only received 10 decisions so far.  A couple months after applying I had to move.  I am having my mail forwarded from my old address to my new one, and I also called most of the schools (all of which I have received a decision) to let them know my new address.  Some of the schools require any changes in writing.  I didn't write a letter b/c I thought it would be a hassle for them and just trusted the USPS to forward my mail.  I haven't received any decisions in the mail for a very long time and now I'm getting much less mail in general...leading me to believe that some of my mail is lost. Should I call the admissions offices of where I applied?  Anyone have a similar situation?  Please help!!

I received an offer on 2/28 via email. It was for 13K/year if I keep a 2.33 gpa.

Sorry, but I'm new to this board and haven't quite figured out how to perform a helpful search. I appreciate any points in the right direction.  Thanks

Can anyone please comment on what the atmosphere is like at the t14 schools?  Competitive/Collegial or what?  I'm particularly interested in Harvard/Stanford/Columbia/Michigan.
