Way off topic, but I have a question about Character and Fitness on the Bar exam. I have a juvenile record of underage consumptions, dui, disorderly conduct and probation violations, all juvenile though. I have an underage consumption when I was 18 and I just received a disorderly conduct now at 23. If I seek help and stay clean until I take the bar exam, which would be 3 years will I have a chance of passing the character and fitness test? Thanks

Most schools generally only let 35% of their class maintain a 3.0 for the first year. I also think that schools place scholarship students in a particular section too compete against one another. I cannot confirm that is true, but it seemed to be the case at my school. You can definetly keep it and I did, but there is a 65% chance you might not. I would consult ONU or Dayton's student handbook to see what the first year curve is. The fact that admissions officer didn't disclose that seems strange they should at least be able to answer what the first year curve. If they cannot answer whether or not they have a curve or what it is it would seem to raise some red flags. 27,500 is a lot of money and 75% of the class at ONU can have a 3.0 first semester it might be worth it. On the other hand if only the top 10% of the class can receive a 3.0 then there is a 90% chance you won't keep the money the final two years.

ONU's curve is a 3.0 so I assume that the majority of their students are capable of keeping their scholarships. And in todays economy law school loans are absolutely crushing people. I have been leaning towards ONU lately. But I am waiting on Miami U for a decision as well. Where did you go to school?

Hey man I'm in a similar situation. I was offered 27,500 from ONU as long as I keep a 3.0. Or I could go to Dayton with only a 10,000 scholly. What I want to know is how many students are capable of maintaining a 3.0 gpa at ONU. I called the admissions office and they said they do not keep track of that. So I think your in a similar situation. I have heard ONU is a solid school as well as Akron. I know Akron has a good trial advocacy program and criminal law program. So that something to consider. I want to be a crim defense attorney so....I dunno. It's definitely a tough call. You ever been to Ada?
