Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Iowa vs. Notre Dame
« on: March 29, 2006, 02:53:02 PM »
Lets assume that:
1)I want to work in Chicago
2)I am about as far from Catholic as possible
3)Cost is not an issue

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Chicago Kent Review

I went to the Kent open house on the 4th as well, and I have to agree...I wasn't all that impressed.  I don't want to to IP and that really seemed to be the schools main strong point.  Yeah, it's in Chicago and yeah, you'll probably be able to find a job in the city if you go there, but other than that, nothing really struck my fancy.  Not to mention the free pens they gave out didn't work.  Another interesting thing about Kent that I've heard from a few current students...they give out scholarships to many of their admitted students that are automatically renewed if the student stays in the top 10%-20% of the class.  What they don't tell you is that more than 10%-20% of the class has these scholarships, which means that somebody has to lose out.  Kind of shady if you ask me

Dear Emory,

The committee has just completed the review of your application.  After carefully considering all information in your application, I would like to cordially invite you to suck my left nut.  Go @#!* yourselves, I'm going to Notre Dame.

My best friend always told me never trust somebody with two first names (Edward Tom, for example).  I guess this just goes to show you how right he was...

Choosing the Right Law School / Loyola University of Chicago Waitlist Poll
« on: February 13, 2006, 10:26:36 AM »
Just curious.  I'm a 3.1/165, got into much better schools, and got WL'd at Loyola.  I opted not to write any of the optional essays.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / General Deferral Question
« on: February 06, 2006, 02:54:00 PM »
I got my deferral notice @ UIUC today.  I attended the school as an undergrad and would really like to go back.  Would anyone recommend/not recommend sending an additional letter of recommendation from an alumnus, an addendum to my application, or something along those lines?  Thoughts?

Got my acceptance email today and a $10,000/yr scholarship!!  Does ND even look at UGGPA?  I'm a 3.09/165 w/ one year of work experience.

i was just looking into apartments in champaign, they're really cheap, at least compared to what i'm used to in nj.  not bad...

What type of prices are you finding?  And where did you find the info online?

Depending on where you want to live, you should check out some of the CU Realtors. Try googling the following (too lazy to do it myself)

Bankier Apartments (one of the best)
JSM Realty

Stay away from any Campus Property Management places

Also, I'd suggest looking into's a few miles south of campus, but still in range of public transportation.  I know a lot of grad students/law students that live out there.  Very cheap and very nice

If you don't mind me asking, why is Wisconsin your first choice?

Haven't visited the school since I was applying there for undergrad...hopefully will make the trip up in the next week or so.  It's definitely not my first choice, but it's close(ish) to home and a top 30 school, so I wouldn't mind going there.
