You have driven, your buddy, Julie Fern into denial.  He must be steaming about Obama sending more troops to Pakistan.  It is comical.

My TV remote doesn't work which is particularly annoying because I can't watch DVDs without it.  Does anyone have an extra universal remote?  I am willing to trade fabric softener for it.

Universal remotes are universally a pain in the ass to set-up. What happened to all those fancy buttons TV's used to have? My dog has a taste for remotes: He has eaten 3 of them already.  Then again, my dog is sick of me watching "Locked Up Abroad".  I think it reminds him of doing time in the "kennel" before I paroled him.

Welcome.  I don't know how much longer I will be visiting but I have to vent.  If someone is using a computer terminal and it is a COMMUNITY computer room, be courteous to those who are already there.  Don't cut in line and take over a terminal if someone's belongings are already there.

Is this a sputtering thread or are consumers simply at the market?

... which obviously makes me think of the PJC cartoon, again.

Lol.  Which of course made me think about The Stones and occupational duality: "just as every cop is a criminal."

Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bait before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand, cause I'm marvelous

I took some time to get away from the machines and won quite a bit of money gambling.  Life is good.

I think Kenny Rogers said it best: you've got to know when to hold em. It is not unlike being a good attorney.

So I think I'm going to actually get a new phone.  Should I get one of those smart phones?  I'm trying to determine if I'll actually use it for the internet...

Anyone I know who has internet on their phone is ALWAYS on their phone. I've resisted the temptation even though it'd be helpful to have.

Yes, this is largely true and really bothers me.  When people are out and about with other people in person/in public that's supposed to be time to interact and socialize with people face to face, not a time to be cruising the internet except maybe to quickly check a map or something.

I think it's very rude to be hanging out with others and sit there and click away on a device while ignoring those around you.

Over last weekend I spent some time in a hotel with my Ex GF to TRY to work some things out.  Over the course of 3 days she wasted most of the time in the room (we pretty much stayed in the room the whole time except when getting food) ignoring me and playing with her phones (yes, 3 of them at the time) and her laptop cruising the net with the wireless access the hotel provided.  I felt invisible and ignored and was ready to throw all the devices over the balcony, instead I just kept unplugging the chargers/power connections to get her to actually talk to me.

Given my internet and tech addiction, there is a reason I refuse to have a smart phone or anything of the sort and do not even have a working cell phone at the moment.  When I leave the house, part of the reason is to get away from computers and the internet and to just spend some time living in the physical world socializing with live breathing human beings face to face, call me old fashioned!

Happy T-day all.

Some women's attention spans are fleeting.  You should tell her that she needs a time out from the gadgets: they will age you.  They also drain on the personality.  Once in a while it is good to have a cyber/silicon detox.  Good luck

This thread has been around for a while, but it seems like the whole board is in decline.  Smug repub is gone.  But some of the obsessed posters remain, some more obsessed than others.  Sheesh, some arguments never die.  It's been fun checking in, and back to work.  Who thinks New Orleans is going to take the Superbowl? My home state could use a win, this time around.

I'm going to the foggy city for new years and can't wait. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good night life?

Welcome Noob! Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Wow! Some people are still with this board which is simply amazing.  This site seems to be having tech. problems.  I once tried to stay with it a long time ago, but it kept crashing.  Maybe some modification is in order.

Seems like not much has changed.  Well, it was fun visiting.  Will check it out again later.
