Job Search / Re: Miami and other major SAO decisions
« on: September 28, 2008, 05:18:55 PM »
I was a summer associate with a big firm in Miami this past summer.  I received my offer to be a summer associate in the middle of October, about 10 days after my callback interview.  Most recently, I received my offer to be a first-year associate in the middle of August.

Good luck!

Good luck!

Greetings to all my soon-to-be fellow classmates!  I'm originally from Michigan, but I'll be coming to UF from Italy, where I've been living for the past year..  After falling in love with the Mediteranean climate, I think I'll be quite happy in Gainesville.. I look forward to meeting you all and sharing toasting to our future successes!  on a more serious note, what are you guys doing about the housing situation?  any suggestions?

Law School Admissions / Re: Specific circumstances - Addendum??
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:55:20 PM »
Hi guys,
I appreciate all the comments.  They have been both amusing and insightful.  Ultimately, I have decided not to submit an addendum except to those schools that specifically request one, in which case, I will certainly be tactful in my explanation.

Thanks again all for the input!

Law School Admissions / Specific circumstances - Addendum??
« on: January 02, 2006, 04:40:48 PM »
I've been looking at all the posts on addendums, but I could use some feedback on my cirumstances.

I scored a 162 on the December LSAT.  The problem is with the 155 I scored on June 6th.
Contributing factors = was moving overseas three days later, working long hours tying up loose ends at work, stress of moving out of apt and out of country, had to drive 2 hours to sit for the test, was not 100% healthy physically/mentally..

reason i did not cancel = was not sure where I was going to be working overseas as an English teacher (maybe China, Czech, etc.).  didn't know if I would be able to retake test and honestly, didn't want it hanging over my head.. in hindsight, was a poor decision.

I'm not sure if I should include an addendum to every school or just those that ask for it.  Ideas?

Also, for those who have had success with addendums, what format did you use, letter or essay?

Thanks for the input!

Law School Admissions / Any ideas? Univ of Miami Application question
« on: January 01, 2006, 11:24:21 AM »
In the application for the Univ of Miami you are asked to list all academic writing experience that you have accumulated (term papers, writing projects, etc..)  I am curious with how others have addressed this question.

My problem is that I have been out of school for a few years, have lost all my undergrad papers, and am having trouble recollecting exactly what i've written?  Anyone else in a similar situation?  How are others answering this qustion?  I have a gemeral idea of the major papers I wrote, but can't recall the titles, etc..  Any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks for any feedback!

PS = loosing my hair ???

Looking for some feedback on my PS..  any takers? I'm open to reading others as well..

I'm looking for some fresh pairs of eyes to proofread and critique a first draft.  I'm willing to read yours as well, no problem.
