there's also the local bus system--not necessarily ideal, but when I was an undergrad, I met a couple of law students on the bus.

In answer to an old question...(last page or two)

On top of having a reasonably generous curve in terms of the %ile specifications, I'm told (by at least one student) that they tend to grade in the top of the allotments.

I've been touting my WM-pending status for a while, but am still excited...I'll be catching up on this thread...

Maybe that's why some folks haven't heard back on their applications yet--they've been filed in the wrong inbox.

"Dear Candidate X,

While your academic qualifications are not overwhelming, we are impressed by your ambition, and invite you to interview for the position of Dean..."

or not.

Law School Applications / Re: Waitlist Meaning

the real answer is 'waiting for them to find out whether they have space for more people.'  The increase in spaces will come from either lower-than-expected enrollment, or people cancelling on their deposits.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: William and Mary
« on: April 09, 2006, 04:21:32 PM »
I'm headed to WM this fall.  It's my undergrad Alma Mater, and I like the environment (though Thai food isn't my thing).

I'm really excited.

The free bus runs RIGHT PAST the rec center from the law school, every half-hour on weekdays.  That'll solve one of your (Admittedly smaller) issues, I hope.

I really hate how all the things I really want you can't buy.  (At least not without breaking several laws and feeling kinda dirty afterwards. ;))

You feel dirty afterwards?  I'd better change my sheets more often.

I'm mostly posting to get updates.

Also...

My experience with a Fall visit fits similarly--cool cool people.  Friendly fac/staff.

Williamsburg's a nice place (more happening than you might imagine, but not off the hook).

Parking sucks, in places, at times.

seriously lets find a way to break ties- i know its all relative to whoever is #1- but im sure there is a way----maybe make rep scores 1-10 instead of 1-5?  that might allow a little more seperation--- maybe use both lsat median and midpt in determing the lsat amount

midpoint=median.

Depends on how define midpoint.  A range of numbers 1 to 10 has a midpoint 5.  But if the set is 1,2,2,2,6,10, then the median is 2.  If you mean midpoint as in "middle number," then 2 is the midpoint.  If you mean midpoint as in "point in the middle of the range" then it's 5.  Of course,  if the numbers are equally distributed (say, consecutive) then midpoint always = median = mean.

Fair enough.

Midpoint is a highly manipulable data piece, then, and shouldn't be used.
