Do you know what professors you have yet?  I know that different professors at R-N use different books for 1L classes

General Board / Re: Not a good first semester...any advice?
« on: January 06, 2007, 06:55:39 PM »
So, I was lucky enough to get a full scholarship to a T1 school, but my first semester was awful.  I had some very serious family problems, and I just did not perform well.  I started off taking 15 credits, but I talked to the Dean and he let me drop a course and take it the following year.  I really didn't do much work the first two months of law school due to the afforementioned problems, but for the last month I studied almost every waking hour, trying to make up for the work I had missed.  I haven't received my exam grades yet, but I don't think I did too well.  I realize that I will probably lose the scholarship, but I do not want to flunk out my first semester.  I have dealt with the problems and I feel that I am ready to turn it around second semester.  My question is:  Do many people fail out after their first semester?  At my school, if you receive below a 1.0 first semester you're gone.  Is it hard to get that low of a GPA?  I wish I would have taken a leave of abscence now :(

I'm sorry but SHU is not a T1 school, but even with that said, i'm sure you didn't FAIL

howd ya get rejected at miami and in at ru??

seems like ru was tough as nails this year to get in..

i just signed a lease in the village tho, anyone from the newark schools living around there?   im right by a path so hpoefully commute wont be too bad.. and i hear nj transit outa new york penn runs nonstop to newark penn every 15..

I think because I'm in-state and wrote some follow up letters to the Dean telling them what I was up to this summer.  IUPUI was the school that i was most surprised that I didn't get into.

hoboken to rutgers newark is about 15-20 mins....   i'm from NJ so i know the cost of apartments around here, i know it'll be at least 1000 a month in hoboken, but i'm saving money anyways cause i was planning on spending 28k per year on tuition for MSU before i got into rutgers

I just got accepted to Rutgers the other day and want to find a place to live somewhere around Hoboken... anybody else in the same boat?

Being from the Northeast, and then going to Undergrad in the South, and then going on a roadtrip through the Midwest last week, I can tell you that there IS DEFINITELY a midwestern accent... the closest I can come to explaining it is if you remember the old cartoon "Bobby's World", where his mother would say things like "don'tcha know" and whatnot.  If you can imagine her saying that, you have captured the jist of a midwestern accent.   (Note: A Chicago accent is a variation of this... See: SNL's Chicago Superfans)

Wait List / Re: miami "hold"
« on: February 12, 2006, 11:10:09 AM »
I'm just chiming in here to say that I was placed on hold as well and have not heard a word from them yet.  I sent fall 2005 grades and an extra addendum.  No confirmation or anything.  I am moving forward with my other schools and not holding out much hope for Miami.  Also I've seen figures that estimate about $47,000 per year if you include all expenses... and if we were deferred I'm assuming we have 0 chance at any scholarship money.  Oh well.
