Job Search / Callback, and I'm kind of desperate
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:22:38 PM »
I've got a callback next week (in the middle of exams, stellar), and not only do I really want a job, I really want this job.  Its a smallish firm that pays/works you like the big guys.  I love this firm, they specialize in exactly what I want to do.  I'm afraid I may come across as a little too desperate.  Any tips/advice?  Thanks!

I'm looking for good supplements for Employment Law, Income Tax, and Constitutional Law 2 (individual rights).  Any suggestions?

I'm using Chemerinsky's book for con law.  Whats the best supplement to go with it?  I've used e&e's for most of my classes, but I've heard their con law e&e isn't very good.

I've been going out with a good number of kids from my section, and not only is it great to blow off some steam, since we're all in the same boat, but it makes it a lot more bearable to have kids that you're close with to talk to throughout the day.  Now the conversation at lunch isn't all about cases, its about "remember when so and so couldn't get into the bar?"  Its nice to have a little reprieve during the day.  You just have to make sure you're not going out to excess

BC had a few students start today, and a few more due at the end of the week (i think all Tulane).  If you're in the boston area and can help, these students need just about everything.  housing, clothes, pots and pans, suits for interviews...

I got the E&E's, because my torts prof recommended that one, and I liked it so I bought the rest.  I'd suggest buying one, and seeing what you think.  I got mine all on amazon, for much cheaper than retail

BC is also accepting students, but did not state specifically what years:

Dear Students   As of course you are all aware, the hurricane and subsequent flooding that hit New Orleans earlier this week caused unparalleled destruction and severely disrupted daily life in that city.  Dean Garvey, as a member of the Deans Section of the American Association of  |  Law Schools, has been in touch with the leadership of the AALS, the American Bar Association, and the Deans of Tulane and Loyola Law Schools to see what assistance we can offer students at those schools.  BC Law, along with over 60 other law schools, has offered to accept Tulane and Loyola law students this semester as temporary visitors to help minimize disruption of their law school education.  As soon as I have more details as to when these students may be arriving on campus I will be sure to let you know.

In addition to our efforts to accommodate law students from the New Orleans area, if any of you have family and/or friends in the areas affected by the hurricane, please let the Dean for Students Office. If there is anything we can do to help you at this difficult time.  We are available to help arrange counseling and provide other support to try to ease the burdens of the past few days.  Dean Wylie

I have a friend at Tulane undergrad, last she heard classes were cancelled for the week with the possibility of classes being cancelled for the semester.  I'd be willing to bet good money that they're cancelling for the semester

My senior year was the best year of my life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  You'll be missing out on a lot if you don't go through senior year with your friends
