I'm partially kidding on the trolling for Seattle even though I love it here. Yeah Cesco let me know if you choose Seattle. I'll be there.

Seattle, Washington is the only city worth living in: money, culture, a thriving music and art scene, mountains, ocean, lakes, four seasons, cute neighborhoods, good schools, trustworthy elected officials, a strong economy, great coffee, the highest quality seafood. The only thing that sucks is the transportation situation: heinous.

you should edit the poll to reflect the correct spelling of Olympia Snowe's name.

Where should I go next fall? / anyone else want to get away from parents?« on: March 28, 2006, 12:57:48 PM »
I feel kind of childish with this concern, but I can't be alone here. The best school I got into is in my home city and state, which I love, but I am dying to escape the wrath of my family and old friends for awhile. Is that reason enough for anyone else to go away for law school?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Willamette--What is it like? Tips? Etc.« on: March 28, 2006, 12:54:04 PM »
I don't know a lot but I live in the Seattle and know a bit. A lot of judges and local politicians around here graduated from there, including Congressman Jay Inslee (D-WA) among others. The school is literally across the street from the OR legislature, which only meets every other year. It's near Portland, which is a beautiful, hip, progressive city. You won't have trouble finding a job in the Northwest with a degree from Willamette. What is most important, perhaps, is the pronunciation: Will-AM-it, *not* Will-a-MET.

Maybe I'm naive but why/how would anyone *plan* on making money, getting married and having kids but *not* spending time with them? That doesn't make any sense. Granted, many people do it, but why would people say, before even starting law school, that they want to do this?

Aside from the sexist poll, this is a great thread. I'm reluctant to believe that going to a "prestigious" school guarantees a good job. It seems like if you go to school in a city you like, while you're a student you'll be happier and seemingly more likely to do well and take advantage of all the resources available to you, and more excited about networking. Maybe it's just me--but I would hate to go through law school regretting my choice and wishing I could be somewhere else. Just my 2 cents.
