I'm a 2L at DU and I am currently doing the JD/LLM in Tax. Our program has an awesome national reputation so I wouldn't worry about not being able to find a job on the West Coast. However, I do recommend talking to Robin Wallace, the Admissions Advisor in the Tax Dept, as she will definitely be able to address your inquiries.

I wouldn't drop out if you truly want to be a lawyer. I got a 2.7 my first semester, then went on to get a 3.6 my second semester and I wrote on to law review. Don't let grades get you down, just work SMARTER and figure out what you did wrong by talking to your professors.
