And is it acceptable usage?

My thought process, followed by my answer:

1. Silence is good.

2. Eliminating unnecessary words increases silence, and therefore good.

3. Everyone will understand "I've never been!" to mean "I've never been there!" given the context of the exchange.

4. "There" is an unnecessary word in the sentence "I've never been there".

5. Eliminating the word "there" increases silence, and therefore good.

So yes.

Partially in the sense that, "oh, look, i'm too good to shine my own shoes."

And partially in the sense that, "oh, look, I'm making this guy pretty much kiss my boots."

How about just don't have the time or energy?

Do you feel guilty every time you throw out a piece of garbage?  (You should, though for other reasons.)  Because somebody has to clean that up too you know.

I feel bad having a guy shine my shoes.
