Law School Applications / Re: Accepted 08/09

In UVA yesterday. Got the email asking me to call, and then I called them back.

The weird part was that before they officially accepted me they said they were calling to see if I  was "still interested in being considered for admissions." So I reply "Yes, of course." Then they said, "Well great, let me be the first to congratulate you with the great news that you have been accepted..."

Thought it was a strange phone conversation that adds to my suspicion that they are holding out on folks at or above the 75% percentile for the sole purpose of yield protection. So if anyone is/was in my boat. That seems to be what's happening. If you really are interested in UVA, are above the median/75%, and want to hurry things along, maybe updating them or sending a LOCI or something my speed them up. Just a thought. Or wait it out and you might get the same awkward conversation I did.

In at northwestern by email.

Did not interview, if anyone is in the same boat and worried it might affect their app.

I was offered a full Darrow scholarship earlier this month. Seen several others with similar offers on TLS and LSN.

Not to be too blunt, but I wouldn't use the phrases that that imply that logic and the ability to analyze aren't "skills." Because I think you'd lose that argument in the eyes of an admissions committee.

I wouldn't try to debunk the test, but rather offer reasons why you (and things you did) to performer better. The reasons don't have to be meaningful or profound, just be focused on yourself and not the test. Unless you have a history of low performance on standardized tests, in which case that would be a good thing to say.

Also decision pending at UChicago. Any consensus/idea on what this means?
