Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Status checker question
« on: February 14, 2010, 08:24:00 AM »
So, I finally got a letter about my pooled status at WVU.  They informed me that I was not an auto admit and this was not the wait list.  However I will not hear until as late as June about my decision.

Odd sounds like a wait list to me and by that time a deposit will be sitting at another school anyway.

seems a little crazy to me

Choosing the Right Law School / Status checker question
« on: January 15, 2010, 05:04:30 PM »
I got home and went on to all of my status checkers as usual.  I was changed to "Pooled" at one school and wondered if that just means that they are putting off the decision until later or something else?

Any advice would help.

Want to stay in New England and think UMaine is looking like a good safety.  Anyone know anything about it?

Any thoughts about the Vermont joint degree program with Yale?  Will it help job prospects in Environmental Law or is it not worth the money?

Yeah I did some research after reading your post and that seems to be the case.  I am probably going to want to work in CT and I think that is where I will take the bar and wait to do a MA/NH test the next round or year.  Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your response.  I am starting to realize I might apply more regionally.  I am willing to take the bar in multiple states, but we will just wait and see what happens.  Any suggestions on NE schools?

Hi Everyone,

I am a New Englander.  Grew up in CT and went to college in NH.  I know that I would like to live and practice in New England eventually, but would not mind moving somewhere else for a few years during and after law school.  But, people seem to feel that if you want to live somewhere you should go to law school there.  Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about this in New England.

I have taken the LSAT and think I am in the 160 range and my UGPA is a 3.44 I am thinking about applying to these schools:

Penn State

U Maine
West Virginia

Any thoughts would help.

sounds good.  Thanks folks

So I have already gotten my LORs all set but I also have a friend who attends UConn Law (my first choice).  I was wondering if it would be worth having them write and LOR to put in with my application to UConn.  I know that the individual is very well respected on campus and very involved.

Any thoughts would help.

Yeah from the looks of things Quinni might not be a bad choice.  They seem to give out some serious money and that is always good.  Any thoughts about going next year or getting a few more years of work/salary under my belt?
