Approximately how much did you study for the ACT?: 1 hr, night before.
ACT Math score: 32
ACT Reading: 36
ACT English: 36
ACT Science: 33
ACT Composite: 34
Approximately how much did you study for the LSAT?: Lots. Not sure on a number.
LSAT score: 177

I think both tests have aspects that are learnable to a degree, with the LSAT of course just being much more difficult.

Definitely think you can still use old LSATs for practice, if for no other reason than familiarity with formatting and endurance.

I agree that RC has gotten much more difficult.  I know this has been suggested in other threads, but I would seriously recommend reading other sources daily.  What you read isn't that important, as long as its at a fairly high level - the economist is decent, ideally you would read some science journals too.  The key is how you read - practice what I think of as "aggressive" reading.  Watch for author's perspective, assumptions, implications, etc.  Obviously these skills are required for LSAT RC, but it can be tricky to apply them to longer passages when you know there aren't multiple choice questions coming up.  Still, I found just this conditionning of my brain was the best asset I had going into RC.  Good luck, b/c RC is definitely conquerable.

The answer is both.

Some people who score a 140's diagnostic could go to 175.  Some could not.  The idea that "anyone" could do it is ridiculous - I know plenty of people who couldn't, no matter hoe hard they worked.

Likewise, a person with a mid-160's diagnostic would have an easier time going to 175 - but its still possible that person will never score higher than that.

Like most things in life, hard work will improve an LSAT score, but we are all still limited by our natural abilities.

I sent my transcripts in early June (I had three).  Two of them were received and processed within a week, while one of them took a couple weeks.  I think the two week processing wait time that they give on the site really only applies in the fall, when I assume they are more busy.

One clarification - the Kaplan tests administered as part of a class are all REAL, full length LSATs.  I took a Kaplan class this May/June in preparation for the real test, and in addition to the 4 real tests given to us in class (the 4 most recent LSATS), I also had the chance to take 4 additional proctored full length LSATs (the next 4 most recent).

Many people post about their practice test "median" in the mid 170's or so, and then do much lower on the real thing.  If you limit your pracice tests to full length LSATS from recent years taken under real testing conditions (hot, cramped classroom full of students, small desks, etc.) a practice test is likely to predict your score.
