Current Law Students / Hillary Clinton writes to 12-year-old Pa. fan
« on: June 19, 2008, 08:55:39 AM »

Her every step over the last 17 months was captured by a legion of cameramen and a press corps of journalists from around the world. But for the last 7 days, Hillary Clinton has been nowhere to seen, and Washington is speculating about where exactly the ubiquitous New York senator has gone.

Is she camping out in her Georgetown home or is the former presidential candidate back at her Chappaqua estate? Perhaps she ventured to an isolated vacation spot, far removed from cable news and the political chattering class. Members of her formal presidential campaign and her Senate staff aren't saying.

Just like she thanked the 13-year old girl in Ohio who gave up her lifelong dream/savings of going to Disney World in order to go with her Mother to work for Hillary in the Pennsylvania Primary, she wished a 12-year-old supporter in rural northern Pennsylvania well in his own presidential dreams. Paul Chichura, who met Clinton during the Pennsylvania Democratic primary, says he received a personal letter saying she hopes if he is ever on the campaign trail, "you have as wonderful a time as I did in Pennsylvania." Chichura handed Clinton a letter at a rally in Scranton asking to shadow her for an assignment at Mountain View Elementary School in Susquehanna County, where he has just finished 6th grade. Clinton invited him and his family to her April victory speech in Philadelphia. He met former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Gov. Ed Rendell. Though disappointed Clinton didn't win, Paul said he supports Barack Obama. Chichura says he wants to be president because "You get to be in charge of a major country and get to make the decisions to make it run better."
