Law School Applications / Re: Cornell Decision Waiting Room

Yeah, but my roommates are all set to go, and the lease would begin Aug 1. If I give up the apartment, it will be very difficult to find roommates and an apartment again if Cornell doesn't pan out. I'm also getting a lot of money at Fordham, so that would also be hard to give up.

Yeah i guess i'll sublet, if I actually make it in.  which doesn't seem too likely, i spoke with Patina from admissions and she said in past years they made 5-10 offers to the summer waitlist.

Sigh this process is soo hard!!

jt, have you come a verdict yet on your dillemma? Hope to see you at Fordham. Also, try to get money out of them if you want to attend. Speak with Stephen Brown, he might give you something.

I've decided that I need to visit USC before deciding either way. I hope to make it out there early next week, if not later this week. And I agree, this process sucks. But it seems like every time I'm forced to put a deposit down on a school, another school decides to admit me. So here's hoping on Cornell! (Also hoping that how quiet this thread got is indicative of the number of people who have declined the WL offer...). Krystal, are you waiting on anywhere else, or are you down to Fordham/Cornell?

Anyone know anything about the San Diego Golf Academy, or know anyone who has done it?

Which school are you at/going to?   I've heard good things about San Diego Golf Academy, but there are a lot of training centers and coaches around.  I'm thinking about taking a lesson from the UCSD golf team coach.

I dunno.  So far I've just been going to the driving range and hitting the crap outta stuff.  I enjoy that.

I might be going to USC, how about you? I also have been having a great time at the driving range, but I don't really feel like the things I suggest to myself to improve grip/stance are making the ball go any higher/farther. Hah. Have you heard good things about San Diego Golf Academy's golf instruction, or golf management program? My SO is interested in the academic training side but I'm just not sure how legit it is.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: USC vs. Fordham

So I put the deposit down on USC, and am spending my morning tomorrow finding the cheapest available flight to go visit the school. I'll have to withdraw one of my applications within the week (I know, I know, I know, and I'm sorry to anyone still on the WL at either school! A spot will open soon!), but based on everyone's advice/opinions, I really need to see what I'd be leaving my entire life for before making the final call.

It's not entirely a matter of where I'll eventually be practicing. They're both great schools, and I figure some decent effort will make either degree work on either coast. I would love the new experience of USC/LA, but am not sure it's prudent to use law school as character-building/new experience time...

How many of you are staying on?  I need to sign a lease, but cornell is still my top choice.

Krystal82, you know my dilemma from the other thread, but I'm going to stay on the Cornell WL at least for now. I'll hang on till the very end if I pick Fordham, but will eventually have to drop out if I pick USC. The whole Cornell thing seems pretty dismal at this point though. Anyone else?

Also, there are about a million temporary-ish sublet possibilities in Manhattan/northern NJ..avoid a lease if you really want to wait it out. It'd at least minimize your loss if you were to leave at the last minute...

There's the possibility for money at USC. I doubt I'll get anything at Fordham (but won't have to relocate, and would live driving distance from pretty much everyone I know, ultimately saving quite a bit). I haven't visited USC, and won't have time to now. I've been to Fordham, though. Anyone have input on USC's campus? I know the surrounding area is debatably sketchy...

Also, I called USC's Admissions office today to ask a few general questions before making my final decision, and they put me on the phone with one of the deans, who talked to me for about 10 minutes. She said USC does recruitment events in NYC and DC, and that USC placed 14 graduates in NYC last year (100% of the total # who interviewed for a NYC job and wanted one, she said). According to her, USC places very well on the east coast, esp. NYC and DC. Obviously, Fordham would be the safe, practical choice for definite NYC living, but USC has definite appeal...and wouldn't make it impossible for me to move back east...anyway, they offered to extend my deposit date to Monday (I didn't have to ask for the extension), and are putting me in contact with a student who chose USC over Fordham last year (This was brought up before I mentioned that Fordham was my other school)..overall, exceptionally nice Admissions Office. I was impressed.

I spoke with Admissions today. There are about 75-100 people on the WL. There have been some withdrawals, but they were previously overenrolled so there is still no space in the class. I was told that if only "a few more" people withdraw, there could be some WL movement. Sigh.

Thanks for the input! The prices of the schools would be comparable (except that I don't have to move to go to Fordham). I don't think I'd be a permanent west-coaster (but who knows), so I guess I'm curious how well a USC degree would translate from coast to coast. For such a great school (esp. in Entertainment Law), it seems like a lot of people on the east coast just haven't heard of USC. But I'm also not sure how far a Fordham degree would take me outside NYC (think, Connecticut or Mass...)...and I only have until tomorrow to decide. Yikes.

I was all set on Fordham, and just got the call from USC. I went to UG in NYC, and currently live in NJ. I'm looking at either Sports and Entertainment Law or Real Estate Law. I have no idea what to do. Thoughts?

Summer waitlist for me. Letter dated 7/10. My online status went from decision to complete, then back to decision on the day the letter was sent. No idea how many people are on this waitlist though...anyone talk to Admissions about it?
