Don't feel too bad, I haven't heard from Skadden (Chicago) either. Tough market out there.

Also, has anyone heard from Texas firms?

Are some cities faster to get back to you?  It seems like most people have heard back from NYC firms, but mot from Midwest or West Coast firms.

Pursuing an LLM / Re: Tax LLM

Does having a CPA along with a Tax LLM help?  I wasn't an accy major but I did major in business and took a lot of accy classes, would going for a masters in accy to gain the required amount of hours to sit for a CPA help if I want to do Tax Law?

Job Search / Re: Headquarter office vs. secondary

I can't see geography making a difference in the scenarios you gave because D.C. and NYC are both good/competitive legal markets.

However, if you were working, for example, in a good firms Minneapolis office (assuming that exists, not to knock Minnesota) then it might be viewed as less prestigious.

If you know the “exit option” you are hoping for, maybe try using geography to your advantage (i.e. you want to be in-house at Exxon, work at a firm's Texas office and network; want to try investment banking, work in NYC; want to be a lobbyist, choose DC).

Transferring / Re: The Transfer Resume
« on: June 30, 2008, 07:23:54 PM »
your resume should look like:

New School Newtopia, USA

Old School Oldtown, USA

If you transfered in undergrad it might not be necessary to out your old school on your resume. Just put your undergrad degree granting institution.

Job Search / Getting a "C"?
« on: May 31, 2008, 10:08:42 AM »
My grades for most of 1L were good (As, A-s, 1 B+), but I ended up with a C in con law. While I still should be top 10-15%, I am wondering whether this one grade will hurt me or whether I need to address it during interviews? Thanks.

The OP is pretty disheartening. I was accepted to Gtown EA from a Tier 3/4. I was top 2% of my class and expect some resistance during OCI, I didn't think it would be that bad. I'd really like to hear other people's stories who have transferred. Were employers skeptical? Did you still get offers during OCI?
