Just sent in my $200 tuition deposit 2 days ago. I'm feeling a strange mix of euphoria and utter fear... I've never lived outside of NY before...

congrats! BC rejected me, but i still have only positive things to say about the school. I went through a similar situation as u, rejected by BC early in the game, but accepted to GW and BU soon after. I was in their 50% for GPA and above their 75% for LSAT. Why why why???

Incoming 1Ls / Private loans without home equity?
« on: March 02, 2005, 10:59:30 AM »
How easy is it to get a private loan (about 30k/yr) without owning a home? I spoke with a Chase financial advisor today and he has no idea how ppl get loans without home equity. Is he 1) completely incompetent or 2) correct, in which case im screwed? Any advice would be appreciated.

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Dell Latitude D810 For Law School?
« on: February 24, 2005, 09:53:58 PM »
I actually just bought a Dell Inspiron 6000D for $1077! I opted for the 1.6 ghz Pentium-M (Sonoma), 512mb DDR ram, 128mb ATI Radeon x300 PCI graphics card, 60gig HD, 8x DVD+RW and bluetooth. I really like the 15.4in widescreen (was thinking about the 700m but the screen is way too small)... Overall, i thought it was a great deal. I heard great things about the D810 also, but a bit out of my budget...

Worse than Fordham, better than WUSTL... If you wanna work in NYC, go to either Fordham or GW. Personally, I would pick GW over Fordham mainly b/c you would have to place well on either school to get NYC biglaw, and GW has a better reputation among firms outside of NY. I was actually surprised to see how many NY firms recruit from GW, given that there's far less students at GW wanting to move to NY...

yea same here. I'm definitely not taking chances with a roommate, especially my first year. I simply won't have the finances to pay $1200/mo, unless i take additional loans... My only solution would be to live in the ghettos... hey, I grew up in Queens, NYC; how bad can it be?

Yea it's exciting~ trying to keep cool tho. lol.

I'm sure there's plenty of people in our shoes, trying to make housing arrangements... I visited GW in January and took a copy of "The Washington Post Apartment Showcase." It had an extensive list of all available apartments in and around DC, including MD and VA. If you get a chance, you should definitely take a look at it. From what I see, southeast or Northeast DC is cheapest, around $500-600 for a studio, and they're usually very close to a Metro subway station. It IS a little dangerous tho... Anyway, GL on finding  an apartment/roommate. IM me if you wanna chat. JaCKLoNe82 on AIM.
