Job Search / Circuit Court Judge, Internship?
« on: March 02, 2008, 12:11:45 PM »
Hello!

I have an opportunity to work with a Circuit Court Judge as an L0 with an acceptance letter from a T1 school.

I want to emphasize ‘work with’ over ‘intern.’  I will be performing IT duties and other more menial labors due to my background in computer science.

I have three questions, if you would be so kind as to answer them (or point me to a website with relevant information):   :)

1)   Is a Circuit Court Judge Internship a prestigious position (does it usually pay, is it sought after, etc), or does it vary wildly by state?
2)   How much does it matter that I do internships in a state that I will eventually be working it? For example, I do not care where I work as a lawyer, as long as it is BIGLAW.  Do I need to intern in specific states (like not Montana, West Virginia, North Dakota, etc.) or will it not have an impact?
3)   Lastly, is this going to be a better resume builder than just jerking it over the summer, or could it potentially hurt my long term job prospects by nailing me down to one state?

I truly appreciate your helpful responses.  I look forward to the day I can pass on the advice that you give me.

Law School Admissions / Hold LSDAS report for Rec. Letter???
« on: February 26, 2006, 09:04:07 PM »
One of my professors just barely sent out her letter of recommendation this past friday. My Feb. LSAT scores have come in, and my LSDAS reports will probably be going out tomorrow (Monday). I know LSAC says that once they receive the latest letter, they'll send that out also in another "updated report". But what if the schools make their decision immediately, even before receiving that letter? Should I somehow try to have my LSDAS reports held up? Thank alot for any insight or advice on this.

With handscoring, can they decrease your score too??? or are you locked in at the score they gave, plus more, if warranted?

In regards to the handscoring, does anybody know if they're allowed to decrease our points if it turns out that way? or are we locked in at the score we got plus anything else they may give us?

I know how all of you guys feel. Although i wasn't testing very high (mid 150s) throughout, i feel i just had an unusually high number of guesses yesterday. my major is civil engineering, so i guess i could work fora yr as an engineer, but flip, i dont wanna do that. i wanna start this l-school right now. i dont wanna make this a 4yr + time studying/passing calif bar process. Yesterday, i could have scored anywhere from 146 to 154... but who knows. damn. don't know wat to do. don't even know if my score will improve much the next time i take it. this whole LSAT and admissions process is literally a disease. good luck to all you guys in the same boat.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: A question about LSAC - please ,please, help
« on: December 04, 2005, 03:08:29 AM »
I remember reading one reply by somebody regarding misbubbling. he skipped a question (around #19) and then from 20 thru 25 he obviously misbubbled. aka pulled a rowshift. anywhoz, he called LSAC... they did handscoring for him (for a small fee) and saw the problem and actually awarded him points for 20-25... for the ones that he got right. i was astonished to hear this, but thats wat he claims. i suggest u call lsac on monday and see wat up. also, i rememeber him saying that some reps will tell u to go to hell while others will be more generous and try to help you solve the situation. if you get an a-hole, hang up, and call back. hope this helps.
