Law School Discussion

I think you've got a great shot at BC & BU.  I was top 5% at a T4 ranked 22/500ish and was accepted to both BC & BU as a transfer student.  My LSAT was respectable, 157 and my undergrad gpa was around a 3.3.  My personal opinion is that schools look at your class rank and that's about it.  With your rank you'll have no problem.  If you want to work in Boston I would suggest going to BC or BU over Cornell, but if you want to more options to work anywhere Cornell is a much better choice.

My only advice for you is to do very well your first year at Cooley and then anything is possible.  If you're top 5% at any school a T-1 (excluding certain schools such as Harvard or Yale) will recognize that you're just as capable of performing well at their school.

That's a pretty harsh thing to say based on a simple little typo and failure to use paragraphs in an online post.  I think maybe you're taking this board a little too seriously if you think what I write on here has anything to do with how I perform in law school.

First of all you should take the rest of the day to relax and not think about the exam that you think you "bombed".  Last year the exams that I knew without a doubt that I had bombed I actually wound up doing better than the exams I walked out of feeling like I aced.  If you did feel like you bombed it then I'm sure you're not alone so you could look at it that way and just hope that the curve works in your favor.  You should really put this first exam out of your head and continue to prepare for the rest of your exams.  If you dwell on what you think was a failure you won't be able to do well on the other exams you have coming which matter just as much.  Cheer up, I'm sure you did not do as badly as you think.

This question was already answered on the transfer board, but I'll fill you in anyways.  I transferred from a T4 school to a T1 school this year so I know firsthand that the only thing they care about when you transfer is your class rank.  I was top 5% of my class with a 154 LSAT and I was able to get into a T1 (top 20) without any problem.  A 156 isn't really that bad unless you're trying to go to Harvard or Yale and then yes, you probably won't get in even as a transfer with that low of a score.
