I do not go to UND- but I did grow up in Grand Forks. I would suggest just flying in to Grand Forks. It would probably be cheeper to fly in the Minneapolis, but that is almost a 5 hour drive. (Flying in to Fargo would be a little cheeper, but not much).

I would tell you to go and look at both the schools to see if you like them and make your decision based on that. (Do not look soley at the cost of attendance). I could have gone to UND for a real cheep (in-state tuition rate) but I choose a more expense, much better ranked school.

I enjoy Grand Forks. I like the people and the town is growing. It is a fun college town (I hope you like Hockey).

I am not sure about the job opportunities from UND. I am sure that many people try to go to Minneapolis- but they have 4 law schools of their own that are better ranked. There may be some jobs in Fargo and Grand Forks- if you really want to stay in ND. I am not sure how well the degree will transfer.

Please let me know if you have any more questions about Grand Forks.

General Board / Any other schools not give out fall grades?

My law school does not give out any fall grades. All of our classes are a year long. Right now we are taking mid-term tests rather than finals and we take finals in the spring. The grades we get on our mid-terms are only wroth about 30% of our fianl grade. We do not have any grades to show potential employers. (I am sure we can tell them how we did on our mid-terms, but we do not have anything on our transcripts, so they would have to take our word for it). How is this going to effect my job search? I don't think that most schools do it this way.

This is for an undergrad class on the criminal justice system

Assume you are a judge in MN or WI and face this case: Police arrested two young men for smoking marijuana in a fishing shake on a local lake. They had set up their shack, which had a small heater and gelectirc light powered by a generator. The shak was enclosed to keep out weather and cold. This is a public lake and popular to many ice fisherman. There were many other shaks occupied at the same time. The police had received an anonymous call simply stating that someone was "smoking dope" on the lake. The police drove to the lake and went to each shack and opened the door, until they found the defendants in this case. the defendants were no longer smoking, but there was a joint lying by the feet. The officer saw it and seized it. The boys were arrested. The the trial, the young men claimed that the police violated their 4th amendment rights.

ID the issues and make a tentative decision.
