Title: Dating weird people
Post by: thechoson on September 29, 2004, 06:49:33 PM
Ok, you know how you have an aberration in your practice LSATs once in a while, the one that makes you say WHAT THE @#!*.  Kinda like 166, 164, 165, 148 (!), 166.

You get the idea.  Ever have this in your dating life?  You know, you date 30 year olds and then all of a sudden you date a high school freshman or something.  Or you date rich people all your life then you date a poor person, I don't know.

Maybe this is the vegatarian speaking in me, but that sounds not very sexy/attractive at all.  Sorry lexy, I still think you're great

Yeah, but I wouldn't consider being called a tofucake an ego stroke.

"That dude is a real Soyman. Total tofucake."
"Why thank you. I try and work out."
"I can tell. You are so beany."
"Aww shucks. Spot me darling."

All of mine have been aberrations. None of them had anything in common with each except maybe a similiar body type. And names. Has anyone doubled/tripled names before? I've done this four times now. You know, one person you date has the same name as another person you date. Three of them were fairly common names but the most recent one was a very uncommon name, and I was serious with both of them. When I tell people, they seem confused, like I'm not telling the truth or something.  :-[

Wild. I have a pet theory that certain names are "cursed" for want of a better word.

Like I am wary of dating Judys. I've dated like 5 Judys and I told myself that last one was the Final Judy. I meat a woman and her name is Judy she gets shunted to the smiling politely, excuse myself quickly category.

With my luck the great love of my lofe could turn out to be a Judy.

Oh cruel Fates. Please don't mock me with a hot Judy.

Rosie, Elaine, Cindy.

That's it.

Yeah, certain names are definitely cursed. Judy isn't that common of a name either. Strange. I am trying to avoid tripling on any of the names that I've dated so far. I just met a guy with the same name as the last guy I dated and I thought to myself, "no way, not again".

Speaking of dating weird people, did any of you guys ever see the movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"?  It was dope.  A really cool flick.

Is it for a date?  Nice touch if it is! ;)

All I'll say is that at the end of the movie, they see dead people.  And Bruce Willis is a ghost.  But that's all I'll say.

This was a great flick. I think I hyped it up before I saw it though because it wasn't as amazing as I had imagined. I've done the same with "Garden State" I believe. I don't think it can live up to what I hope it to be. Has anyone seen it?

Hey KristyB,

Yeah I did see "Garden State" too!  That was a funny movie.  I didn't like it as much as I did "Eternal Sunshine" though, but I still thought it was pretty cool.  Zach Braff seems like he's got a lot of talent, a lot of potential to become a good director.  Natalie Portman was cute too.

By the way, aren't you the girl teaching English in China (if I remember right)?  Is it pretty easy to watch a lot of American or Western movies out there?  Just curious.

Yeah, I'm in China. It isn't very easy to get the more independent films like "Garden State" or "Eternal Sunshine" but all the other major movies are on VCD/DVD and you can buy them for really cheap. They come out the same week as the movies do in the US because people go into the movie theatre with a digital video camera and record the movie. I can get a VCD for less than $1 but the quality sucks. It's weird too because you can hear the audience laughing and clapping sometimes. I bought Collateral and the audience was laughing at really strange times and it totally ruined the movie for me.

As far as seeing movies in the theatre, they only get like 7 foreign movies a year that are officially "allowed" into the country, so I won't be seeing anything on the big screen for awhile. My Chinese isn't good enough to sit through a Chinese movie without subtitles. :(

Good quirky ideas.  Terrible script as a whole!  Let us not compare this Eternal Sunshine, which is obviously on the best films to come out this decade.

I've always dated really tall guys with dark hair and light eyes.  It's not because I consciously seek them; it just works out that way.  BUT THEN THERE WAS THAT ONE MONTH  :o when I dated this guy who was just barely my height, blonde, and had brown eyes.  I don't know what happened.  His personality didn't even fit in with my usual guys.  He was... average... I guess is the word.  I mean, there was nothing extraordinary or fabulous about him.  I guess I was just bored or something.  Anyway, I often think back to the guy and wonder - what the hell was I thinking?

i dated someone really boring for like a good six months. he is absolutely wonderful in many ways, but was definitely a 49-yr-old trapped in the (nice) body of a 24-yr-old. definite anomaly-- mustve been what i needed at the time.

I'm probably boring to most people because I read too much, don't watch TV, don't drink to extremes, and never touch drugs.  I play more video games than are probably good for me too.  So while I'd like to think I am just tending to matters of the mind, it comes across as "this guy doesn't like to have fun."

And it's so strange too, because I totally rock out onstage and do all the rock God crap when I play music.  It's like Jekyll and Hyde.

I dated this girl for like two years that was very similar to me, yet completely different.  She was extroverted, loved people, and was very kind.  At the same time, she was very shady, and very interested in the material aspects of life.  I always had a sneaking suspicion she was cheating me on, but I could never prove anything.  Besides, she was insanely hot (former Ms. Texas pageant contender), so I tried to ignore my hesitations.  We had an on and off long distance relationship after I started Texas A&M.  Eventually she transfered up here, and hated it.  That ripped us apart even more.  We've had a couple falling-outs since and I haven't spoken to her in months.  I often wonder what she is doing...

Thanks and Gig 'Em,
Jason-

All my friends are quirky.  I'm positively tame compared to some of them.  Or maybe I just think that cause I'm me.

But seriously, my friends are characters in every sense of the word.  I could write a novel about it.  I'll refrain just now.

That's what I like about those Chinese, man!  They have anything and everything for sale, any time you want it!  Why wait for the movie to be released when you can buy it on VCD now?  They are awesome.
