Title: Chances--3.5/164/urm from Princeton
Post by: .......2 on November 02, 2007, 02:34:32 PM
So I didn't do as well on the LSAT as I would have liked (170+). Oh well. I'm still applying to the same schools I would have had I done well (except Yale).

About me:
-3.5 from Princeton, Philosophy major
-164 LSAT
-Mexican-American, female
-"Excellent" personal statement according to Princeton's Pre-Law adviser; at the very least, its different. I discuss my struggle with apathy.
-Rec's should be OK to good. One is from my junior paper adviser and the other from my boss from this summer. I'm waiting on a third from another professor.
-Average e.c.'s. Mostly political/debating and tutoring type things.

The list of schools I'm applying to is in my LSN profile, see the link in my signature.

So my question is, will I get into at least one school? That's all I want.

Yes, you will get into at least one, almost certainly at Notre Dame.

I'm not so sure if I'm going to apply to Notre Dame or Chicago. I got fee waivers for both, but they require that you use LSDAS for your rec's. I've been using Princeton's letter service. Getting my recommenders to fill out more forms/send them in will take a while and will be kind of a hassle for them.

I think you'd have a good shot at Princeton Law

Me too, but that's my last choice.

I'm guessing 7 of 12.

^^^ On the basis of what, exactly?

Look through LSN on similar indexes/numbers, UrMom (and Teacher!).

I'd say in at 3-4/12. I'd reckon one at MVP, maybe Georgetown and Duke. Couldn't tell you on the California schools (except Stanford which is a definite ding). I'd say rejected from 2/3, in at 2/3, then waitlisted at the rest (with myabe a few coming off waitlist).

At the end of the day, you only need 1.

I hope you're right lollypotter. Being able to choose from 3-4 schools would be great, but like you said, I only need one.

Also, random bit of information, my GPA and LSAT are very close to the medians for Princeton students. By the numbers, I'm just an average Princeton student...

Fortunately, the average Princeton student isn't URM.

"Struggle with apathy" sounds like it would be high on the list of subjects to avoid, but I guess I'd have to see the actual essay.

Hah, yeah, I was a little worried about that. But when I was considering all the things I could write about, it really was the most genuine one. I think it shows how much I've grown and matured and also why I want to go to law school.
